43 - Deserted

As the group stepped around the alter, Floran turned her head to Cutecumber. She then put out her hand. Cutecumber looked at her confused.

"Your socks. Hand them over." Floran said bluntly. Cutecumber sighed. "Fine." she replied sadly. She sat down and started taking her shoes off.

Brazilian Bug Boy looked over at Octopus Man. "We're finally going to beat the Triune. I'm so hyped." he said excitedly.

Octopus Man was eating a biscuit as per usual. "Who's the Triune again?" he asked with his mouth full of biscuit.

Emberlyn walked up to Floran and pulled on her sleeve. Floran looked over at her. "What's up?" she asked. Emberlyn looked down shyly and said, "I'll still be able to go to the silver lakes, right?"

Floran sighed and nodded. "Of course we will. Now stop touching my sleeve. You're burning me." she said. Emberlyn backed away.

Dinkleflop was just staring blanky into the distance. It was his duty to bring that criminal to justice, but allowing this group of people to protect all of reality was much more important. He could get fired though, so he was conflicted.

As Cutecumber put her shoes back on, she stood up and placed her squishy socks on the alter. They all started disappearing. "What's happening?" Emberlyn asked. "We are being transported duh." Lusha responded.

They rematerialized in deserted field of dilapidated buildings. They looked around in confusion. "So this is Landland huh?" Kookakoo said to herself. Floran looked over to her. "How long have you not been paying attention?" she said angrily.

Cutecumber scratched her head in confusion before saying, "So, where's the Triune?"

Lusha busted into laughter and said, "Oh you guys are so dumb. This isn't where the Triune is."

Floran angrily walked up to Lusha. "You said sacrificing the squishy socks would take us to the Triune, didn't you?" she shouted. Lusha smirked and replied, "Yeah it does. I didn't lie. Looks like someone among you did though."

Floran's eyes widened, and she turned to Cutecumber with a deathly glare. "What did you do?" she asked in the most horrifying way possible.

Cutecumber started backing away. "I... I didn't do anything..." she stuttered.

Floran grabbed her by the collar of her hoodie. "I'll do the same thing I did to Caleb with you if you don't tell me." she threatened.

Cutecumber gasped in fear. "I... I..." she stuttered again. "TELL ME NOW!" Floran yelled. Tears started flowing from Cutecumber's face and she said, "I only sacrificed one of my socks. I couldn't bear to let go of them both."

Floran threw her to the ground. Kookakoo looked over at Cutecumber who was now on the ground, and said, "I'm going to roast your organs over a fire."

Cutecumber's eyes widened in fear. Octopus Man shook his head in disappointment. "Cutecumber, when we first met you, you were badass, but now you're just ass." he stated.

Lusha couldn't stop laughing. "You guys are funny. That sock took us to a different section, one that has been deserted due to the effects THAT THING had on reality." she explained.

Didn't all the other sections get destroyed besides ours?" Octopus Man asked. Lusha nodded and replied, "Yeah, well when you pushed back the void, the sections were rebuilt, but the effects are obviously still here. But don't worry, this section is halfway to the Triune, which is beyond all of the sections, so we are pretty close."

Emberlyn spoke up quietly and said, "But if there are endless sections, how can we be halfway?" Lusha turned around with a smile and said, "Don't question things."

Kookakoo looked over and said, "Hey look, a bunch of giant man-eating dragons." They all turned to see a vast field of dragons.

Floran sighed and raised her hand causing energy spikes to come from the ground, impaling most of the dragons. "Let's just go." she said tiredly.

Cutecumber got back up and looked down. "Sorry." she said. They all just walked ahead, ignoring her. She sighed and walked in the back.

Dinkeflop looked around and recognized a marking on one of the dilapidated houses. It was 3 slashes that had to be made with a knife of some sort. The slices were perfectly parallel to each other. This was the iconic marking of the criminal he was chasing.

They continued forward and made it to a ledge. The ledge was very high up and looked down upon a sprawling metropolis. "We need to get down there I assume." Floran stated.

Octopus Man and Kookakoo just jumped off the ledge. Everyone gasped as they watched them jump. They exploded on impact with the ground, but their body parts were magnetically reconstructed. "That was fun." Octopus man said. "Again! Again!" Kookakoo shouted.

Floran shook her head and flew down, holding Emberlyn. Brazilian Bug Boy then flew down, holding Dinkleflop.

Lusha looked over at Cutecumber. "Yeah, I'm not helping you, sorry." she stated before flying down herself. Cutecumber grabbed her head in frustration. "Not again! Everyone hates me again!" she yelled to herself.

As she looked down from the ledge and watched everyone walk to the city without her, she decided to jump as well, knowing she could regenerate easily.

She crashed to the ground but was unharmed. She then caught up with them, and they continued to ignore her.

Dinkleflop was still thinking about the marks he saw. They seemed new. He walked up to Lusha and asked, "What was that void you were talking about a few minutes ago?" Lusha sighed and said , "Well you see..."

One explanation later

"And that's about it." she concluded. Dinkleflop nodded. "Thanks for the explanation, but I don't think the void caused the destruction on that cliff." he responded. "Look, that city in the distance is huge and unharmed. Only the few houses we saw up there were damaged." he concluded.

Lusha thought to herself for a second before responding, "Good point. So, what do you think caused that damage?"

Dinkeflop looked ahead and replied, "I think it's the criminal I'm chasing." Lusha nodded. "How convenient." she replied.

Octopus Man walked up to Dinkeflop and started laughing at him. Dinkleflop looked confused and asked, "What's so funny?" Octopus Man then pointed to the party hat, which was still stuck to his hand, and then pointed to the face mask stuck to his mouth. "You have a funny name." he said. That wasn't want Dinkleflop was expecting him to say.
