42 - Altar

Cutecumber gritted her teeth, and her wound started to heal quickly. "Oh yeah, I forgot you can regenerate from nothing since you haven't done anything for so long." Octopus Man said. Cutecumber just gave him an angry look.

Lusha stepped forward. "I hate dragging on pointless fights." she said as she ripped her skin open, engulfing the Gatekeeper in the world that is inside her. The Gatekeeper was now floating in the directionless void.

Lusha smiled with her sharp teeth as the Gatekeeper began throwing forks at her. They simply bounced off of her. "I am the embodiment of planets. You can't kill an idea." she said confidently.

The Gatekeeper then spoke for the first time, saying, "Your external monologue gave me your weakness." He snapped his finger and Lusha's pupils started to fade. She felt dizzy and held her head. "What happened?" she asked herself.

"No idea or phenomena can exist if I deny it. That's what fork power is." he said bluntly. Lusha quickly retreated back to the pulsating space they were at earlier by collapsing her world.

Emberlyn walked up to her nervously. "What happened?" she asked.

Lusha shook her head and fell to her knees. "That guy is way too strong. I can't do anything to beat him." she said weakly.

The man with the party had looked concerned, as did everyone else. Lusha then smiled, showing her sharp teeth once again. "Just kidding." she said. She then moved so fast she was invisible to the eye. In an instant she closed the gap between her and the Gatekeeper. She struck him in the stomach so hard he flew up hundreds of meters into the sky.

Lusha then jumped up to him. The force of her jump was so powerful, the ground beneath her shattered. In the air, she punched him back down to the ground, creating a massive crater.

Lusha landed on her feet beside him in the crater. The Gatekeeper got up, completely unharmed. Floran raised her hand and restricted him with energy chains. "FINISH HIM!" she yelled to Lusha.

Lusha nodded but was then stabbed with hundreds of forks. She fell over to the ground. Since the Gatekeeper was actively denying the phenomena that created her, she was a complete glass cannon.

The Gatekeeper then easily broke free from Floran's chains. Floran took a step backwards.

Brazilian Bug Boy, who had removed all of his gloves, was still at the peak of his power. He charged up a powerful attack, but the Gatekeeper sensed this and threw a fork that went right through his head. He fell over on the ground, screaming in pain.

Emberlyn hid behind Floran for safety.

Kookakoo laughed. "I saw Lusha going 20 quadrillion times faster than light and still got defeated. None of you can compare." she said bluntly.

The man with the party hat's eyes widened when he heard that Lusha was moving that fast. He was merely 10 trillion times faster than light, so he could do nothing to defeat the Gatekeeper.

The Gatekeeper then raised his hand, creating a massive cat face in the sky. They all looked up to see the face. The Gatekeeper said, "This face will count down from 10, and when it hits 0, you will all die from the damage I inflicted upon you." The gatekeeper then quickly through forks at Octopus Man, Kookakoo, Cutecumber, Floran, Emberlyn, and the man wearing the party hat, so that they would all be affected.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5..." The cat face spoke.

Emberlyn was crying as the face kept counting down. Floran was gritting her teeth from the pain of the forks.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"2, 1, 0!" but when the face finished, nothing happened. The Gatekeeper had a confused look on his face. Octopus Man then stood up and did a heroic pose. "I replaced the death countdown with a life countdown when you weren't looking, so now we are all okay!" he shouted. All the wounds inflicted upon them were healed.

The Gatekeeper shrugged. "Then I'll do it again. What? Did you think I could only do this once?" he said bluntly.

The man with the party hat quickly got up and he shouted, "I didn't want to do this, but if I strap my party hat to my fist, I'll get a massive upgrade."

Cutecumber looked over and asked, "Why didn't you want to do that earlier?" The man looked down and replied, "Because it's permanent and will stick to my fist forever."

The man sighed, but knowing this may be their only hope, he took the party hat off of his head and strapped it to his fist. He then started glowing with power. He took a step forward and punched the Gatekeeper with the point of the party hat. This caused a massive shockwave, and the Gatekeeper lost his footing, falling to the ground.

The Gatekeeper now looked very unamused. The entire world started turning into a toxic wasteland. It was nigh impossible to exist within this world now as the Gatekeeper had created a form of radioactivity that surrounded it.

"QUICK! COME HERE!" Floran shouted. As they all ran to her, she created an energy shield around them so they would be unaffected by the radioactivity.

The man with the party hat was also under the shield and pulled out a face mask, yet he was hesitant to put it on. "If you have extra protection, you should use it." Floran said, noticing he had a mask.

The man sighed and put it on. "Why was that so hard?" Floran asked. "Well, it is permanent so I can't take it off." The man said. "WHAT IS IT WITH YOU AND PERMANENT ITEMS?" Floran yelled.

The Gatekeeper sighed. He walked up to the shield and was about to destroy it with a single punch but got a tap on the shoulder before he could do so. He turned around to see Octopus Man smiling.

"What? How are you surviving in this world?" the Gatekeeper asked in disbelief. Octopus Man smirked and replied, "I took out all of my organs so I would be unaffected."

The Gatekeeper held his fork tightly and raised it, preparing to stab Octopus Man. He stabbed Octopus Man in the head and created the cat face to do the countdown again.

As the face counted down from 10, the Gatekeeper pushed Octopus Man to the ground, and repeatedly stabbed him in the head. "YOU WON'T ESCAPE DEATH THIS TIME!" he yelled.

"3, 2, 1, 0!" when the countdown ended, Octopus Man just stood back up again and scratched his head a bit. The Gatekeeper's eyes widened, and he took a step backwards. "H..how did you do that?" he asked, trembling in fear.

"I removed my organs remember? Your damage couldn't really be inflicted upon me." Octopus Man said casually.

Octopus Man then turned around and yelled. "GET OVER HERE!" Catalina jumped in from out of nowhere and barked happily. "Turn into a wireless printer." Octopus Man commanded. Without hesitation, Catalina turned into a wireless printer

Just the mere sight of such an item caused the Gatekeeper to shake violently. His voice was shaking as he said, "No... not the worst device to ever be created. The hours spent setting it up. The error messages. The unstable WiFi connection. THAT THING IS EVIL INCARNATE!"

The Gatekeeper them melted into sludge. Catalina then reverted back to her original form. "Good doggy." Octopus Man said, petting her. Catalina panted in happiness. "Okay, now go back to your part time job." Catalina nodded and jumped into the distance. She had been working as an elevator mechanic for a while now.

Floran took down the shield she created and turned to the rest of them. "Looks like Octopus Man did it. We can finally get to the Triune." they all cheered, except for the man with the leather jacket and party hat.

Octopus Man looked at Kookakoo and said, "Now I know I'm just so amazing and beat him all by myself, but why didn't you help huh?" Kookakoo looked down and said, "My powers don't seem to be working right now."

Octopus Man gave a suspicious look and said, "Hmm, ok then."

They walked over to a door that had just appeared in the world. "This must be the door to the center of reality." Cutecumber stated.

Floran nodded, but then turned around to look at the man with the party hat. "But what about you? Who are you, and what do you need to be here for?"

The man responded, "I'm Dinkleflop. I made it here just a few minutes before you did. You see, I am a bounty hunter, and I've been tasked for find a very powerful criminal. The department that hired me just so happened to have a portal to the center of reality, but they didn't tell me I'd have to face off against the Gatekeeper guy."

"Let me guess. You need to go to the center of reality to find the criminal?" Floran asked. "Yeah, that's right." Dinkleflop responded.

Floran shook her head. "Well sorry, but we are trying to stop evil gods that are going to destroy everything if given enough time, so we need this more than you do."

The man nodded and replied, "Well yeah. That sounds reasonable I guess." Lusha opened the door and right before them was the altar in which you needed to sacrifice the squishy socks. The altar was silver, and in the shape of a biscuit.
