98: Escape from Kurani Part 3

For a moment, they were able to catch their breath.

But Kawao and Koru were still quite shocked by what had just happened. Kawao, in particular, was curious about Kenzo’s technique.

"What did you just do? With your staffs? Was that your Nyd?"

She glanced over at him briefly.

"Yes. When you use your Nyd at 100%, you can unlock its full potential. I’m sure you’ve already seen it with Fetu."

Now that he thought about it, it dawned on him. When Fetu had transformed into that thing, it must have been his full power! But it seemed he couldn’t control it. Just like Kawao... .

He also suspected that when he fought Paikon, Paikon had also used his full strength—when he connected his fire ropes with his body. That must have been it!

Suddenly, something caught their attention. A massive cloud of dust appeared before them.

'How did we not notice that?'

"Damn! I was hoping to avoid this!" Kenzo said.

"What do you mean?" Kawao asked.

"The worst possible situation has occurred!"

Before their eyes, a massive army was moving through the valley directly toward them. Their uniforms immediately gave away that they were from the Kasaka army. But that wasn’t the worst part. They were surrounded on all sides.

"And some commanders are with them!" Kenzo pointed to several distinct figures.

A serious-looking, unassuming soldier. "Commander of the 20th Unit: Funo, the Immortal!"

A tall figure almost hidden in the crowd, wrapped in various camouflaging garments. "Commander of the 19th Unit: Ertio, Assassin of the Shadows!"

A large, muscular man, proudly displaying his bare chest. "Commander of the 18th Unit: Verbo, Protector of Crucrax!"

A woman with a dark, ominous presence, her face obscured by her long, dark hair. "Commander of the 13th Unit: Jack, the Storm of Devastation!"

A limping man almost entirely wrapped in bandages. "Commander of the 9th Unit: Sankesh, the Burning Plague!"

And a woman dressed in a deep, dark red cloak, who looked eager for battle. "Commander of the 6th Unit: Rando, the Arsenal!"

Six commanders were approaching with an army through the valley.

"The odds are against us, but I have a plan! So listen carefully!" Kenzo said, quickly leaning in to explain the plan to the two of them.

Verbo was the first to spot the trio.

"Hm? Are those the three who caused all the commotion?"

"Seems like it!" Rando added.

"Then let’s get them!" Ertio finished, raising his hands.

In the next moment, massive clouds of smoke erupted from his hands, filling the valley.

Through the smoke, Verbo spotted two fire staffs leading in opposite directions toward the valley walls.

'They’re trying to confuse us? Which way did they go? I say... THAT way!'

With a powerful leap, he rushed toward the left wall and struck with immense force. But aside from rocks, he hit nothing. His blow nearly caused a landslide. He had chosen wrong.

The smoke slowly cleared, and he turned around. On the other side stood Kenzo, alone!

Behind her was Ertio, holding a knife to her throat.

"I don’t know where the other two went... But you’re as good as dead!"
