82: A Dream from the Past

82: A Dream from the Past

An infinite darkness surrounded him.

It seemed familiar to him.

As if he had found it again after a long or short time.

He no longer knew.

Here, there was no time and no space.

Only him and his innermost and darkest thoughts, or so he thought.

A scene began to build around him.

Slowly, he realized that he was dreaming again.

This didn’t always happen.

After most dreams, he couldn’t remember what he had dreamed.

But these partly “prophetic” dreams were different.

As if they were trying to tell him something.

The surroundings seemed familiar to him.

It was his house.

Where he lived with his parents.

Slowly, a person formed in front of him out of smoke.

It was his father.

He seemed angry.

“Why did you do it?” he shouted.

“Why did you hit him?”

“Because he spoke badly about you and our family!” he suddenly heard himself say.

He turned around.

Behind him stood his younger self.

He remembered this moment.

When he was seven years old, he had argued with another boy during training and had fought with him.

His father had been very angry with him, but he didn’t know why.

He would learn it later.

Just as he thought this, the surroundings changed.

Now he was on the beach.

He watched himself sitting by the water with his father, looking out at the open sea.

“My son,” his father began.

“People are like the sea! They are unfathomable. When you think you know them, they start to show different facets, and you learn new things about them that you couldn’t have even guessed before!”

He stared thoughtfully at the water.

But he was still very focused on this conversation.

“Do you know why I was angry with you?”

He hesitated briefly and then replied, “No. I don’t understand!”

His father waited a moment.

He let the evening sea breeze blow across his face.

He looked down at him.

“Do you think he is a bad person?”

“Yes! He insulted us! He humiliated us publicly!”

“Do you know why he did it?”

“Because he is fundamentally bad!”

His father took a deep breath and sighed deeply.

“My son! You are good at many things, but even you will never be able to do and understand everything! … This boy is an orphan. His mother died shortly after his birth, and his father beat him for a long time until it was noticed,” he began.

His younger self slowly turned pale.

“You seem to slowly understand. He didn’t insult our family because he is fundamentally evil. No one is! He probably did it out of envy. He envies you and your talent. Your healthy family. Your… better life. He probably felt provoked by you. That’s why he did what he did. And that’s why you shouldn’t judge others immediately by their actions. At least not until you know the background of their actions! Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you?”

“I… I think so.”

“Good! Then show me. Make peace with him! Try to get to know him! Then you will see that no person is fundamentally bad or does evil things always for evil reasons! Show me that you can become a responsible person!”

“Yes, Father!”
