45: Breakout Part 1

Kawao looked around.

He was searching for something he could use as a needle.

It was difficult since his hands were tied behind his back.

"What are you looking for?" Koru asked.

"For something I can use to get us out of here!"

Shortly after, he felt something in his hands.

A piece of straw!

"This might work!"

He closed his eyes and concentrated on the straw.

Although his restraints were supposed to completely suppress his Nyd, he felt he could still use it.

But only very weakly.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

After a short moment, he managed to slowly channel energy into the straw.

He felt it harden and strengthen.

Now he just had to try to use it to unlock his restraints.

Fortunately, he could reach the lock.

Carefully, he inserted the straw into the keyhole and tried to free himself.

But, as usual, it didn't work on the first attempt.

'Damn! What now?... Maybe I can use the energy to shape the straw like a key!' he thought.

He focused again.

This time, he could manipulate the straw more easily and shape it correctly.

After a few minutes, there was a click and the chains fell off Kawao's body.

"Phew, done!" he said in relief.

"You never cease to surprise me!"

"Right?"

Slowly, he stood up and went to his cell door.

Luckily, it was only made of ordinary metal.

With some energy and a quick yank, he pulled it off its hinges.

"Be quiet! Or they'll hear us!"

"Isn't that our goal? We have to defeat them anyway."

"I was hoping we'd find another way!"

Suddenly, they heard hurried footsteps approaching.

Shortly after, a few soldiers with drawn spears stood before him.

"How did you get out of your cell? Get back in there immediately!" one of them shouted and charged at him.

Effortlessly, he dodged the spear thrust and kicked him back towards his comrades with a Nyd-enhanced kick, knocking them all over with the force.

"But I don't want to!" he retorted defiantly to the soldier lying on the ground.
