“I… think… awake.”
Slowly but surely, Kawao regained control of his senses.
Carefully, he opened his eyes.
A bright light blinded him.
He needed a moment to get used to it.
“What… doing?” he heard again.
“Who is speaking?” he asked.
But there was no answer.
He tried to sit up, but his body felt heavy.
After the fight he had some time ago, that was no wonder.
But he had the feeling that he was getting better by the minute.

After about five minutes, he managed to sit up and take a blurry look at his surroundings.
He was sitting on a table.
Had he been operated on?
Was he in a hospital?
He could see two figures nearby.
“Where am I?” he asked them slowly.
They turned to him.
After a brief pause, they answered, “You are safe!”
He could hear a female, familiar voice.
But he didn’t care about that at the moment.
The only thing that interested him was that he was in control of his senses again.
And after a short time, he could perceive more details of his surroundings.
He was in a very clean-looking white room.
Nearby stood a small table with medical-looking instruments.
However, he still couldn’t recognize the two figures, as they were standing in a dark corner.
He didn’t notice that although the room was fully lit, there was a very darkened corner.
Slowly, he began to understand.
After the fight, he had probably managed to escape to some kind of hospital and had luckily been rescued there.
He was sure that if he hadn’t received help, he would have died sooner or later.
“Did you help me? Thank you very much! I owe you one. Can I do anything for you?” he asked.
The two figures slowly stepped into the light.
“Well, you can do something for us!” said the woman.
A cold shiver ran down his spine as he saw and recognized them.
They were the nun and the bishop of Isulon!
The nun grinned broadly at him.
“You can come with us!”
