106: The Alliance! Part 4

After the conversation, the three headed to the Nyd meter.

Syd was genuinely curious to see if Kawao would meet his expectations.

They walked through several hallways and eventually reached a smaller room.

Unlike the little hut where he’d first had his Nyd measured, this room was clean, orderly, and looked more like an interrogation room.

Beside the Nyd meter, which looked much cleaner, more modern, and hummed softly, was a small table with various sheets of paper and pens.

Syd took one of each and indicated that Kawao should use the machine.

Following Syd's instruction, Kawao placed his arms into the designated slots.

As his power was measured, his curiosity got the best of him.

"What’s with the paper and pen?"

"We always record the latest Nyd readings of our stronger members to keep track of our overall strength as a group. It also helps us better assign reinforcements or missions."

With a small ding, the machine chimed.

The result was ready!

Both looked eagerly at the display, where his power level would be shown in glowing numbers.

22,260!

Over 4,000 more than last time!

He had grown noticeably stronger.

A smile spread across Syd's face.

"It should actually be higher if you fought Fetu as an equal."

"I was using a new technique called ‘Stage One,’ which roughly doubles my strength."

"Then that adds up. That would put you at around 44,520 during the fight."

"Exactly."

"Much better than I expected, but you still have a long way to go… But don’t worry! We’ll push your strength higher through the right missions!" Syd said, full of anticipation.

Syd then advised them to spend the rest of the day familiarizing themselves with the hideout while he worked on plans with the new information.

Tomorrow, they would begin their training.

The two agreed and explored the rebels' hideout nestled in the mountains around Kurani.

The rest of the day was peaceful.

The city’s residents got to work rebuilding, with help from the units still stationed there.

Around midday, the 18th and 19th Units departed for new missions.

Verbo’s 18th Unit was ordered to return to Cruscrax as soon as possible, as strange things had reportedly been happening there since his unit’s departure.

Ertio’s 19th Unit was to return to the capital for new, highly classified missions.

And so, the day came to a quiet close.
