Today was the day the verdict for Makon and Fetu would be delivered.
It was still early morning, yet crowds of citizens were already gathering outside the entrance to the garrison—just as they had done three days earlier.
This time, however, their anticipation was palpable, even though the verdict was not scheduled to be announced until noon.
Many were eager to find out what fate awaited the two criminals.

From his quarters, Sankesh calmly observed the masses gathering in front of the garrison.
Like insects, he thought.
And I could just burn them all to ash.

He smiled.
“Don’t even think about it!”
He turned toward the voice.
It was Rando.
“I wasn’t going to do anything!”
“Yes, you were. You had that look again.”
“What look?”
“You know the one I’m talking about. Now, come on! Focus on what’s important,” she said, gesturing slightly toward the other commanders, who were deep in discussion.
Most of the commanders had already left.
Only he, Rando, Feratu, and Pinoir remained.
The others had received new orders and departed.
Not that he cared.
He was indifferent to the outcome of this verdict.
Whatever the result, it wouldn’t affect him in the slightest.
So, he watched with mild amusement as Feratu and Pinoir argued over Fetu’s fate, while Rando tried to mediate and separate them.
They were the only ones truly invested in the verdict.
The other commanders, who had already left, hadn’t offered any comments on the matter.
It simply didn’t concern them—just as it didn’t concern him.
The debate dragged on for quite some time until Rando and Sankesh were forced to weigh in and break the deadlock.
Their input helped finalize the decision.
Shortly after noon, the garrison doors opened, and Feratu, along with the other commanders, emerged with Fetu and Makon in chains.
