This time, the hall was not as crowded.
A few scattered people carried papers from one place to another, brooding over their desks, or gathered in small groups holding quick meetings.
The table where Sid sat was a large, deep dark red wooden table, with a big map of Kasaka spread across it, marked with various flags and crosses.
‘So, this is how the rebellion operates,’ Kawao thought as he and Koru sat down across from Sid.
After a while, Sid began: “Before we go any further, I—we—need to be certain that you support our cause! Yesterday, you mentioned that you promised to repay us for our help. But what exactly does that mean? Will you join us, assist with a mission, or share information with us? Before we say anything else, I need your answer!”
The two exchanged glances, thinking for a while. Then they whispered to each other and looked back at Sid.
“We’ve decided!” Kawao began.
“If you can help me with my revenge, I’ll support you with everything I have and can do.”

“And if you can support him, then I’ll help too! So that I can stop him if he loses himself in his quest for revenge.”
“And if we can’t help you? What then?”
“Then we’ll help with a mission, as you said, and go our separate ways. Don’t worry; we won’t turn you over to the army or anything.”
“I wouldn’t expect that either. After the chaos you caused yesterday, you’ve earned a lot of trust from us here.”
Sid thought for a moment. “What’s the focus of your revenge? Who or what are you seeking it against?”
“My revenge is solely against those responsible for the genocide of my people. We had a peaceful and fulfilling life in the southern seas. But then, they appeared out of nowhere and destroyed everything I held dear. Whoever is responsible for this will pay with a gruesome death. I swear it!”
“Hm. Interesting. But didn’t you also involve innocents yesterday? What did they have to do with your revenge?”
“Nothing! And I’m incredibly sorry that I lost control and gave myself over to the fight. Fetu is on a different level, and I didn’t even know if he was part of my revenge! I was confused and didn’t know what to focus on. But after the fight, I found clarity! I won’t involve any more innocents in my quest for revenge. I swear that, too!”
Kawao was dead serious as he shared this with Sid, holding his hand over his heart with a look of pure determination.
Sid recognized it. He smiled and nodded.
“I understand! Then all is well. You can’t undo your actions, but you can shape the future. I’m glad to see you aren’t wallowing in self-pity. Very well! We’ll help you! Since I first met you, I’ve been trying to figure out why you came here and what your true goals might be. It seems I was right with my theory! Now I can tell you who your true target is for revenge.”
