46: Breakout Part 2

"Quick! Get me out too!" Koru called to him.

Kawao turned to him and began to pull out the cell door just as they heard voices from above.

"What was that?"

"Are the prisoners free?"

"Inform the commander!"

They looked at each other.

"Quick!" they said simultaneously.

With a yank, Kawao used his Nyd to rip the cell door off its hinges.

Shortly after, he started to unlock Koru's restraints.

They heard footsteps again.

"Hurry up!"

"Yeah, yeah!"

CLICK!

The chains came off, and Koru stood up cautiously.

But the soldiers Kawao had just knocked down were already back on their feet, and reinforcements were arriving from above.

"This doesn't look good," Koru said.

"Got a plan?"

"Yes! Duck!"

He did.

Koru enlarged a wooden splinter he had picked up.

It was now the size of a smaller mast.

With a swing, he knocked all the soldiers around them unconscious.

He almost destroyed the outer walls but they got lucky.

However, the noise hadn't gone unnoticed by those above.

"That's done!" Koru said.

"And now?"

"Now we have to go upstairs and deal with Paikon! If we defeat him, his soldiers might lose their courage!"

"That sounds like a pretty dangerous plan. Paikon isn't called the 'Ship Scrambler' for nothing!"

"We have no other choice! We can't swim anywhere. We're in the middle of the open sea!"

"You're right! But I'll stay below deck and keep the soldiers busy. Maybe I can support you from there!"

Kawao swallowed hard at the thought of fighting Paikon again.

But he had no other choice!

He would probably have to face even stronger opponents eventually.

He took a deep breath.

"Let's do this!"

Meanwhile, Paikon trembled with anticipation for the upcoming fight in his cabin.

A soldier knocked.

"Commander! The prisoners have broken out of their cells!"

A dirty grin spread across his face.

"I'm glad I was sent here!"
