Capitulo 4: Los pisos inferiores
Two years and seven months flew by. Adam finally managed to reach 80 pages at the age of 15. His classmates also achieved the same milestone respectively, as Aquiles had said: they all progressed at the same pace, or else they wouldn't move on with the class.
The next goal was to reach 100 pages, both for Adam and his classmates. It seemed that there would be an official celebration once they reached that number, so Adam was very excited to achieve it.
During these two long years, many things happened to Adam, but fortunately, nothing that put his life at risk. Negotiating with the little books was taking a lot of time, and the eyeless old man seemed to have no rush; in contrast, Adam felt like he was in a hurry to get things done.
There were numerous times when the young hero had to run away in fear of provoking some lunatic on the 5th floor below, but luckily, everything ended without much trouble once he ran into the cave. However, the fear of having to escape from a lunatic still lingered in Adam's heart.
The little books weren't easy to convince; they were mostly used to their carefree life, so the majority of them ignored Adam and continued their peaceful existence, gobbling up dust. The few little books that responded to Adam's proposal demanded so much that the eyeless old man refused to accept the offer, causing the negotiation to never progress.

Luckily, the white wooden family also didn't seem to be in a hurry. In their time as bookshelves, two years seemed like a short time, and they still didn't say anything to Adam for taking so long to find the little books.
Although this new routine as a negotiator and seeker of little books was a bit more exciting for Adam than just waiting on the stairs. According to his godfather, having obtained a usable magical book before getting his black cape was something very few librarians had achieved.
Moreover, waiting on the 4th floor was not as good an idea as it used to be. The situation was gradually getting more out of control, and the frequency of dangerous creatures appearing only increased.
Almost every day, at least one librarian disappeared, and the guards were overwhelmed trying to control the situation. As a result, Adam no longer liked staying on that floor for too long and only went there to attend school.
In these years, Adam visited the market quite frequently to buy some odds and ends and look for interesting items for sale. However, with time, the young hero realized that the characters were only useful for buying basic things to maintain a good lifestyle. But secrets, information, and magical books couldn't be bought, or at least not in the mid-level market, which was the only one Adam knew.
Although the boy didn't complain, the advantage of being rich was not having to work to buy his food. While the cave helped him by providing infinite food, eating blue mushrooms every day became torture for Adam. So, he searched the market more frequently to find provisions.
Today, to celebrate reaching 80 pages, Aquiles asked all the students to attend classes a few hours earlier than usual, so Adam assumed that there would be another special class.
The young hero was super excited about the possible special class; after so many years of studying, he realized that the only two special classes he had were the best lessons of his school life so far.
