Adam closed his book about different religions and pulled out his godfather's biography. He had a very important announcement to make to his godfather today. The young man took a pen and dipped it in the inkwell, writing with a pretty neat handwriting, he said:
'I reached 139 pages, what do you think you should give me to celebrate 140 pages?'
The words disappeared, and a question appeared instead:
'Are you 25, Adam? At that age, I was already drinking coffee. You should treat yourself to some coffee from a store as a gift.
Remember not to go to the school floor these days and read the magic books before visiting your father. Surely, you'll make him happier if you can perform some magic tricks.
The black robe is a new beginning: now is the time for you to seriously consider what to do with your life before obtaining it. You should ask yourself : How do I want to start my new life?'
Adam read his godfather's words for a few minutes: of course, he wouldn't go to the school floor. Anyway, it didn't matter much since Aquiles had disappeared over a year ago; the pimple on his forehead probably finished him off. The young man would feel sorry for his teacher if he didn't know how the school actually worked.
Currently, Adam was dealing with another teacher, so any affectionate treatment was impossible to get. However, due to his positive karma, he still feared going to that floor.
What bothered Adam at the moment was trying to answer his godfather's question because even now he hadn't decided what to do with his life after obtaining the black robe. While the young hero was somewhat interested in religions, even after 4 years of research, he still hadn't seriously considered dedicating his life to fulfilling any of the objectives proposed in the religions he found interesting. The redhead wanted to go to his father to ask for some advice, but his father might be too demented to respond by now.
A while ago, Adam had mentally prepared himself for the worst: his father might be dead or so demented that he wouldn't recognize him. As a young boy, he naively believed that things would heal over time, but at 25, he highly doubted that their relationship could start over from scratch. Now, Adam's only wish was to see his father sane enough to get him out before the purge nd for his father not to attack him for being too crazy to recognize his face.

To answer his godfather's question, Adam thought about Franco and Bianca's decisions. His classmates had gone on missions for their respective religions. Adam knew that Franco sought to become an inquisitor on his journey through the upper floors, and Bianca didn't quite know what she wanted, besides accompanying Franco; she seemed very adventurous in her last years of school.
Adam wrote his godfather a somewhat improvised response. He would think it over again when he obtained the black robe, but for now, he knew what he liked and what he didn't. Based on that, the young hero wrote what he thought was the best future in his mind:
'Probably, I'll head to explore the upper floors.'
His godfather crossed out what the young man wrote, irritating Adam greatly, and wrote in anger:
'You'll go to the lower floors, and explore what? Set a serious goal, kid!'
Adam, angry that his godfather didn't respect his decision, wrote hurriedly:
'I'll go wherever I want. I decide my life. You already lived your life and died!'
His godfather crossed out the message, and another message appeared in its place:
'I already know that... I assure you, you'll enjoy my gift for your 140 pages, Adam...'
The young hero slammed the biography shut and threw it against the cave walls with force.
—Aren't you afraid of breaking the biography?— the old blind man asked from the cave's ceiling; he seemed to have been eavesdropping on the conversation.
—Librarians aren't obligated to answer the bookshelves...— Adam grumbled —Start preparing the list of effects of the magic books. I'll have to leave soon, old man.
—All good things end quickly...— the old blind man commented with some sadness —I'll give you a nice black robe when you master the language. If I get promoted, I'll link your achievements to mine, so keep winning books; you're my best investment, Adam.
—By the time you get promoted, I'll be dust...— Adam said with irony as he prepared to go to the market; he still had the spirit to buy himself a nice celebration gift.
—I doubt that, young man...— the old blind man replied, looking at him with much joy —Truly, you were my best investment, kid.
—Do you want a parting gift?— Adam asked, thinking that soon he wouldn't set foot in this cave again.
—A gift? Mmm... Your decorations wouldn't last long...— the old blind man said with some sadness but seemed quite proud that a librarian would give him something —Buy plush toys and stars! Something that makes me look even more magical; it's a good idea, I hadn't thought of it.
—Alright, I'll get you a nice gift— Adam said in better spirits. Finally, someone would accept one of his gifts with a smile.
—First impressions are everything— the old blind man said, more excited with the idea and seriously considering the matter —Get me something very magical that doesn't make me look too dangerous!
