092-Tell me who I am and I'll give you a smile.

Time passes more and more slowly. The days are bitter, and the nights are long. Adam's brain keeps replaying horrible memories of his childhood, and the few happy moments he knew to have at school are covered by the smiling face of Professor Achilles that he can't remember anymore or maybe doesn't want to remember anymore.

Now, every time Adam saw his teacher at school there was only a deformed face that had grown like a parasite on Achilles' original face and had taken control of his body, the new Achilles was born.

His teacher seemed to still be alive because every day tears could be seen slipping from under the grain of flesh with a face that covered Achilles' head. And if Adam got close enough, he could hear Achilles mooing in pain from below the grain.

But nobody did anything and Adam didn't want to do anything to help his teacher either, the young man had grown up and was now just another ordinary librarian.

His two classmates had dropped out of school and decided to travel together, heading to the upper floors, they had already learned the 120 pages of the upper language long ago, but they kept it hidden from everyone for some reason that Adam doesn't understand. Nothing bad should happen to Franco and Bianca based on what he had learned.

The last day that Franco and Bianca said goodbye to Adam wearing the black robes, his classmates with kindness and affection warned him about the secrecy of the school and the purge that was coming in the years to come.

The red-haired young man had been left with his mouth open in disbelief during the entire farewell. His classmates had managed to obtain the black robe before him, even though he wasted all of his youth in order to achieve what he had achieved to date. To make matters worse, Franco and Bianca were kind enough to reveal the secrets that he was hiding from them, in order to try to get Adam out of these problems alive.

Finding out the harsh truth, far from helping Adam, only showed him that he was also part of the rotten society of librarians and even as a child he preferred to condemn his classmates to misery before trying to tell him the truth and exposing himself to the consequences

In the other life, he had opposed the system and had fought against this society. But he failed in the attempt and as a consequence he lost his opportunities to learn to read, condemning him to a life of bitterness where he depended on exchanging favors just to survive.

Yet in his 20 years of life, Adam had been just another submissive librarian who hid his head to save his own neck from the guillotine, dooming everyone in the process.

However, the result had not changed, because since Adam learned the truth exposed by Franco and Bianca, the young man's days had only been bitter and his nights sad for having discovered that he was the most false hero of this entire story. .

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Over time, Adam learned that everyone on the middle floor knew about the purge and that war was coming. They all decided to hide it from Adam and Adam hid from them, except for his classmates, whom by irony of life he never saw again since the day they said goodbye trying to save the life of the man who had decided to condemn them in his mind.

It was then that one bitter and tearful night that the red-haired young man understood the truth of his sad existence: 'His companions had the hearts of a hero, but he only wore the mask of a hero'

That day, Adam managed to understand why the face on the two-color shelf that symbolized the path of heroes was crying, and it was because nothing was more sad than living as a fake hero.

Today's Adam was sitting at his desk, tears would not stop flowing from his face as he wept over page 120 of his yellow notebook, staining each of the ink letters. A sheet of metal was used as a page marker, and the sound of Adam crying and the tears falling on paper and metal were all that could be heard in the cold, dank cave lit by the bluish mushrooms.

Adam had managed to read 120 pages of the 140 pages needed to receive the black robe from him, however, the tears that streamed down his face were not of happiness but of sadness. Because these bitter 120 pages were just a memory of the years of wasted youth of him learning this hellish language. A memory that all of his childhood happiness was engineered lies, and a memory that he was all alone in a big mushroom-filled cave with absolutely no one to congratulate him on coming this far.

A long and painful 20 years of Adam's life to finally get to read these measly 120 pages that were the only achievement in his lonely life.

At only 20 years old, Adam was the richest man in all the middle floors, however, here he was crying in front of his yellow notebook without anyone coming to give him a few words of encouragement.

With only 20 years Adam had obtained 4 magic books and yet those four books were the only company of his miserable life.

At just 20 years old, Adam had gotten a magical item that was something most librarians on this floor could only dream of. Still, an object was of no use other than to give silent company.

The young man only cried and cried because there was no one with whom to enjoy all the things he had and had achieved, there was no one in Adam's life: he had no friends, he had no family, he had no girlfriend. Adam had absolutely no one in his life that he truly loved: that he selflessly loved.

With nothing more and nothing less than 20 years, Adam got up from the desk soaked in his tears, took the metal plate on top of his language book and went to the cave lake. He stood on the edge and began to rock on the edge as he cried.

He then cut his neck with the metal plate. He fell on the lake with his arms open on the lake water and implored the gods that this time, just this time, the lake water could not heal him, and he would let all his suffering end.

A great life with unlimited riches, magical books, a miraculous item. Without a doubt, a great life with a great future ahead. And the truth of the story was that a completely lonely and bitter, great life was about to end today. The blood trickled down the lake, warming and embracing the young man's body for the last time, while Adam's eyes slowly closed.

Before closing completely, his eyes looked desperately as the water of the cave healed him again, so that all this crude story could continue until it had a happy ending. Because a hero's path couldn't end like this, at least not in books Adam had read; 'Perhaps the books had deceived him' thought Adam as he lost consciousness.

A head poked out from one of the corners of the caves. In his face formed from the stones of the walls, eyes could be found, and his eyes were crying black ink as he watched the young red-haired hero's new routine.
