But Adam wanted to find out, so he headed to hex 18 to go to the bank. Walking through the corridors and shelves, Adam was able to reach the Hexagon. The trip was quite calm, due to the few awake people there were, although he came across more and more people.
Adam took advantage of the fact that there were few people to change his broken shoes for new ones. He would keep the old shoes in the cave to have a set of old clothes and new ones; as his father had told him to do.
Finally, Adam got to where the bank was, at the door of the hexagon there were 4 guards, who seemed to watch that incidents did not occur inside, the 4 looked at Adam with some suspicion for a long time.
Meanwhile, Adam was trying to work up the courage to go through them, which created a strange atmosphere where neither of them did anything but look at each other in silence. After a while, one of the guards approached him and said in a somewhat nervous tone:
—Would you like something, sir?
—Yes —Adam replied—I wanted to see my bank account, but I don't know how to do it. Can you help me?
—Are you a boy?—the guard said with some discomfort, the rest of the guards looked at Adam more suspiciously—Well, come, I'll help you, the rest I watched 'very' carefully.

As if on cue: The three guards at the door pulled out some red books and stared at Adam's back as he walked forward with one of the guards.
This hexagon followed the same wooden decoration as the rest of the hexagons, but had the peculiarity that it was surrounded by shelves only at the ends and was completely hollow inside. All the shelves were the same and seemed to be made of stone, without any decorations, and on the shelves, there were only gilt-backed books without any inscriptions.
The guard led Adam to the bookcase farthest from the door and said:
—You just have to take one of the books, then the bookshelf will give you more instructions, any problems we'll be watching from the door. So don't do weird things. Understood?
Adam nodded and proceeded to take one of the books, the guard at his side, he stayed a while longer until he saw the stone face appear, the face did not seem to be human because of how wrinkled it was, it had sharp teeth and eyes bandaged. As he left, the face on the shelf asked in a slow voice:
—What operation do you want to perform?
—I want to check my bank account, how do I do it? Adam said, opening the book in his hand, but it was completely blank, there was nothing written on it.
The blindfolds on the stone face slipped back for a second as if to peek at Adam, but then snapped back on, as he said:
—Just put your finger in there for a few seconds, and we'll see what happens.
Adam listened, and when he put his finger, the same information that appeared on his card appeared on the first page of the book.
