Capitulo 2: Adam...
A stone face looked at Adam with concern. The boy had spent an entire week locked in the cave, afraid to go to school and also distrustful of returning to his father's house. With concern, the eyeless old man tried once again to convince the boy to reconsider:
—Young hero, you cannot spend your whole life locked in a cave, otherwise, you would be just like the rest of the librarians who spend their lives confined in their books.
But Adam didn't reply; although he felt a little better after a week, he still felt bad about his father, and school scared him. Perceiving that the boy was at least listening to what he said, the eyeless old man got excited and continued to stoke the hero's fire:
—It's true that your father kicked you out of your house, and the baron will kill you if he finds out the truth, but is that a reason to give up and abandon the grace of life? All heroes go through difficult moments. But those difficult moments forge their path to greatness!
Adam looked at the old man on the wall; he didn't want to give him the upper hand, but he felt that the old man was right. Adam knew he couldn't keep living in the cave forever, and the boy was quite tired of spending an entire week living in this cave doing nothing. The eyeless old man got even more enthusiastic when he saw that his speech was working, and he continued speaking even louder:
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
—That's why you must acquire the black robe, Adam! If the sword is the weapon of warriors, then knowledge is the sword of librarians! And there is no sharper sword in this sea of books than a good language! Go and learn with courage, young hero!
—But...—Adam tried to say.
—No 'buts,' Adam!— the eyeless old man shouted angrily, causing his voice to echo throughout the cave.
When Adam tried to speak again, he found himself at the school gate: the eyeless old man had hypnotized him, and he had walked the whole way without realizing it. The boy had even put on his new robe.
Upon arriving at the school, the boy noticed that César was waiting for him in the giant doorway that led into the school. It seemed that the principal had been waiting for him at the door every day since he stopped attending classes.
—Finally, you're back, Adam...— César said, without seeking many explanations and with a smile on his face— Come, I'll take you to the classroom. You have no idea how happy Professor Aquiles will be to see you again.
Somewhat compelled by the situation, Adam followed the principal and entered the jaws of the wolf, but this was the destiny of heroes, at least according to the criteria of the old shelf covered in moss and fungi.
When Aquiles saw Adam at the door, he ran and hugged him, saying:
—My favorite student, you had me worried! But don't worry. Learning a language usually takes years, what's a week in that time? Come in, today we'll dedicate this class to review everything we've covered this week. And we won't move forward until everyone reaches the same level!
Adam was quite happy, but also somewhat uncomfortable because he no longer had his yellow notebook. Aquiles noticed this issue during class and gave Adam the notebook he used during his study days. The notebook was filled with notes that were quite helpful to Adam.
At the end of the class, Adam could remember the vast majority of the 30 characters' names.
