E1-12-El primer paso para conocer la verdad de mi historia...

Adam nodded and went to sit on the armchair. Fortunately, the armchair was as comfortable as it looked; although it was a bit high, and Adam's legs were dangling in the air. The boy, far from being bothered by the height of the chair, happily swung his legs while waiting for the lady to return with the measuring instruments.

After a while, Camila returned with a box of tools and a black notebook. But before measuring Adam's feet, she looked at him with a bit of astonishment and pity as he playfully swung his feet on the chair.

—Let me fix the chair so you can be more comfortable...— Camila said as she adjusted the chair to a child's height, allowing Adam to rest his feet on a small stool.

She opened the black notebook she had brought and placed it on the floor. Then, she proceeded to untie Adam's laces and take off his shoes. Upon seeing the state of the shoes, Camila commented:

—No wonder your dad sent you at this hour. These shoes are a mess!

Adam didn't say anything, but secretly thanked Camila's imagination. Carefully, Camila measured the dimensions of the boy's foot, dictating the numbers out loud, and the black notebook automatically wrote them down. It was the first time Adam had seen such a strange book.

—We're done with the measurements, luckily I still have a pair of shoes for kids— Camila said as she read the dictated measurements from the black book.

Then, Camila went to an area with boxes of shoes that seemed quite old and started looking for a pair that matched Adam's foot size. As she lazily searched through the boxes, Camila commented:

—You know, lately, not many children are born in these floors, that's why it's a bit difficult to find your shoe size. Most librarians don't even bother having children. Or worse, they have them and...

But Camila stopped searching and noticed that the boy was looking at her curiously. She had forgotten that her last sentence might disturb him a little, so she decided to ignore what she was saying and continued looking among the pile of shoe boxes.

—Who are your parents, young man?— Camila asked as she struggled with the shoe boxes, trying to find the perfect fit.

— I only have one father, his name is Donátelo— Adam replied nervously; he didn't want to talk much about the subject —My mother went off to explore the lower floors, so I never saw her.

—Finally, here it is!— Camila said with a smile as she found the box she was looking for —I don't know any librarian named Donátelo, unfortunately, but I congratulate him for taking care of you and leaving work.

The woman approached Adam with a box that wasn't in great condition, but when she opened it, there were beautiful brown shoes in perfect condition inside.

—Do you like the shoes, boy?— Camila asked with a smile on her face.

—Yes! I love them!— Adam replied, excited about his new shoes.

—Glad to hear that — the woman said with an even bigger smile —I'll make some adjustments and treatments for the time they were in the box. The shoes cost 5/18 of character paper, you can start preparing it.

Adam nodded and patiently waited on the armchair with his golden paper in hand. Finally, the woman returned and stared at the boy with the golden sheet in hand for a moment, then looked at the broken box. Without much shame, Camila took out another larger and newer box, removed the shoes, and put Adam's shoes inside.

—Boy, that's not character paper— Camila said while searching for a green notebook —That's imbued character paper, used for other things. You should go deposit it at the bank. Could you pass me your ID?

Adam was a little scared, but nervously searched his robe for a card and handed it to Camila. He assumed nothing bad would happen since the school also accepted it.

The card only had the following information:

> Name: Adam.

>

> Identification number: 64341.

Camila took the card and began filling out the information in her green notebook.

—Alright, I have everything— Camila said as she handed the card back to Adam —I just need you to place your finger here. As for the rest, you should go and open an account at the bank so you can pay me. The bank is on the 4th of 5th floor, hexagon 18 of 18.

Adam placed his finger on the notebook, and it lit up, recording his data and startling Adam.

—Uh...— Camila said, checking the notebook —It seems that your dad already opened an account for you in the bank's system when you were born. Well, that simplifies everything. Anyway, Adam, go and deposit that paper so you don't lose it.

Adam nodded and left the store through the door, appearing again in the hallways, holding the shoebox and looking quite bewildered. Adam didn't understand why he had a bank account in his name, but he wanted to find out, so he headed to hexagon 18.
