Adam read the message for a few minutes, somewhat incredulous with his godfather. But he knew him well enough to know that he is most likely lying and expanding the story so that he pays attention to him about continuing to look for good karma. Furthermore, Adam had been born (reborn) in the lower 5th floor according to his father, so his godfather had made the lie quite obvious.
Even so, his body was very bad and there were many people lying all over hexagon 4. There was no danger because the fire had been put out somehow, but it was not uncommon to see people stealing and fighting everywhere. The young man had the status of a student, so he didn't worry about it.
The situation was more chaotic than in the previous ascent, partly because the people were different, this time there were no people with colorful robes and no one had bothered to change the decorations of the corridors.
Watching the Hatchlings trying to help the living people, Adam was able to identify those who had survived. If the sombrin disappeared without delivering the book, it is because the person had died.
Knowing who he had to help, Adam approached limping and tried to give a hand to the first sombrin that crossed, he couldn't hear anything, but he seemed to read on the lips of the first person who helped a: thank you.
Adam continued to help the living librarians, there were not a few who tried to rob him and there were not a few who fled when they saw the bookshelves come out to rescue him.
The help that the boy could provide was not much to the extent that he could put a tourniquet on some part of the victim's body to stop the bleeding and have faith that the person could come out alive by the force of his will.

If the injured person regained consciousness they would receive a kick from the sombrin who took it away again, so Adam tried to help them hide their magical books in their robes, so they wouldn't be stolen.
Over time the young man's strategy changed: when he saw someone stealing he would stop him, logically he couldn't do anything, but the shelves that served as swords attacked the thieves for him. He didn't know if he was good at giving karma, but the graces of those rescued were not few, or at least that's what Adam understood.
Unfortunately for Adam, the guards never came to help and he had to do all the work alone and the old men with colorful robes from the previous time weren't there either, if they were they would probably know a trick to help them all.
However, it was very early in the morning, so there were few people in the corridors, therefore, few were wounded to help in this hexagon.
Time passed and Adam found no more living people to help or more thieves to scare, so he finally decided to go home. With his steps limping from exhaustion and injuries, he managed to reach the marble stairs. Like the previous time, the general's marble head was covering the entrance to the stairs, just like in the other ascent, his head was wearing a cone on his head and a party whistle in his mouth.
Seeing the boy arrive, the general spoke with a military tone, but happier:
—Congratulations, hero! A booklet told me that you were helping those who fell in combat. Unfortunately, I have instructions not to attack those criminals who are stealing, otherwise I would have helped you.
Adam was surprised, he was deaf, but he was hearing him perfectly. But he didn't feel like asking her the trick, now he just wanted to get into the cave waters and get his hearing back.
—Can I come in?— Adam said, though he didn't hear himself, so he felt kind of weird.
—Of course, but remember that you won't be able to go up until tomorrow—said the general, opening his mouth and showing the door.
Adam entered the ladder and began to go down towards the cave, the trip took him a long time and there were many times that he had to stop to catch his breath.
