Unlike with the Invaders from Beyond the Stars quest, there was no written update. The only thing that had changed was the quantity next to Mjolnir, which now indicated that it was in their possession. Sam closed his quest, and opened up the next notification.

You have upgraded the skill [Basic Analyze:Common] into the skill [Minor Analyze:Uncommon]

Things that were previously hidden to you are now available. You are now able to read the levels of F Rank beings, as well as analyze more forms of physical objects.

This is exactly what Sam had been expecting. A simple upgrade that increased his capacity for analysis. No longer would he have to deal with the row of question marks that appeared upon analyzing an F Rank. There were two more notifications, and he opened the least pressing one first. He already knew what the last notification was, and he was going to save it for the end.

Congratulations on being the first planetary citizen to reach F Rank on your planet! You are now eligible for the position of planetary governor. To claim this position, you must reach E Rank within the next decade, and gain the support of at least 90% of the inhabitants of your planet. Support can be quantified by a System contract, or by membership of your faction. If another faction leader swears allegiance to you, then you gain the support of their entire faction. The next two planetary citizens, who are not members of your faction, to reach F Rank will also become eligible.

Sam had not been expecting this. Would he even be able to run an entire planet? He was already struggling with just a single faction, and he had the support of his captains. Was he really cut out for this? Sam quashed the insidious thought. If he was to achieve his goals, he would have to. Closing this, he opened his final notification, the one that he was most looking forward to.

Sam almost had a heart attack as he saw the monumental increases to his stats. He had not checked his stat sheet once since he had killed Tarnus Barl, the hammer wielding alien who had served under Salvar. Sam knew that he had gained quite a lot of power since, but the actual amount staggered him. His Dao upgrade, coupled with his quintuple level up from Salvar, as well as his stat points from ranking up had given him a huge boost.

Sam felt ecstatic as he beheld everything that he had achieved. All of the pain had been worth it. He had taken a huge step towards his destiny, albeit a step that was dwarfed by what was to come. F Rank was only the first step in the long road of progression, and a tiny one at that. He had left the realm of normal humans far behind by now, but he was still only a mortal. If he left this universe and tried to pick a fight, he could be atomized in the blink of an eye. He was nothing but a big fish in a small pond.

Sam closed his eyes, and began to cultivate. It would be a long ride back to the headquarters. As he entered his corespace, he saw that his Dao had started to send tendrils of itself out into his body, connecting at specific nodes on it. There were 100 of those small spheres, seemingly located at random points around his body. One of these nodes was far brighter than the others, and as Sam moved closer to this node, he began to feel a pulling sensation from it. It was siphoning essence from the world around him, albeit at a glacial rate. It would take over a year to gain even a single level from just this singular node.

As he noticed its location, he suddenly realized what it was. The node was in his left palm, the area that had pained him after leveling up for the first time in F Rank. Was this how he would have to level up now? Would each level require him to break open one of these points with his essence to progress? In any case this was his new path to power, and from what he could tell, if he opened about half of these nodes, then he would be able to passively cultivate at a quick enough rate to allow for such an activity to be useful to him. If the amount of essence earned progressed additively, like would make sense, then fifty nodes would equal fifty times the essence gain. Doing some quick and intuitive math, that would mean that a level past that would take about a week, not accounting for things like an increased amount of essence required. Still, Sam was not going to become some closet cultivator, only fit to sit in a room and gather essence. He was a warrior, and that was his path.
