A few seconds later, they made contact with the ball of energy. The air started to shudder as the two attacks vied for supremacy, one representing the will of the city, and the other representing Death incarnate. Shards of power started to lance off from the nexus of the collision, slamming into the ground below. Plumes of atomized earth rose up, but nobody watched them, instead gazing at the collision of powers in the air. It was an inspiring clash, but also one that threatened the very existence of the city.
A few seconds later, both of the energy constructs destabilized, detonating with the force of a nuclear bomb. A shockwave raced outwards, flattening some of the weaker undead against the force field. Earth and rock flew upwards as a mile wide crater opened up on the ground. For a few hundred feet down, there was nothing but empty air. The Corpse Titan seemed unfazed by this, and simply leaped over the gap, nearing the city with every stride. Cursing, Sam leaped from the wall. There was only so much that he could do from afar. Fearlessly, his captains followed him.
More of them could be seen racing up other parts of the wall, from Claude to George, and some of the aliens. Some were slower than others, which meant that their arrival was staggered. Still, the presence of the strongest people in the faction was highly welcome. Addas took shots at the monsters below with his magical abilities, in an arena of battle that suited him. Others leaped off the wall like Sam, ready to engage the monsters. However, only Sam and the other four were strong enough to take the fight to the Corpse Titan itself.
They raced across the ground like lightning, all of them using various movement abilities. Sam simply used his speed. With the bevy of stat points that he had gained recently, he was like a silvery flash as he moved across the ground. He raised his hammer, calling upon whatever forces were out there to protect him. He was not a religious man, but some occasions called for a bit of hope. This was one of them.
A bolt of lightning descended from the cloudless sky, striking Mjolnir as if it was some sign from the gods of old. The weapon looked like a pinprick next to the Corpse Titan, but Sam knew that it packed more of a punch than its size indicated. At this point, the Titan loomed overhead, casting a vast shadow over the land. It was hard to even make out its more human features. From this perspective, it simply looked like a strangely shaped mountain made out of yellowing bone. Sam refused to let the sight cow him however, and he started to draw upon his elemental energy, Dao energy and mana. Behind him, he heard Eduardo pray under his breath. He smiled grimly. They were all going to need as much luck as they could get.

From the perspective of the Titan, it must have been like it was being assaulted by a group of microbes. In fact, if not for its high level, it probably would have been unaware of their presence. In any case, it did not pay them much attention. Its focus was on the city, with its plethora of souls ripe for the taking. A beast like this, so steeped in Death energy, thrived more off of the power of the dying than off their essence. Killing an entire city would grant it great power, more than levels would. However, Sam refused to let this happen.
He watched as one of the legs came plummeting down, forcing the air out of its way as it did so. He teleported onto the bony foot, holding onto a small nub of bone as he did so. It was like he was on an entire plateau, as the foot stretched for hundreds of feet in every direction. A normal man would have let this deter them, but Sam knew the truth of the matter. A creature of this size would not have much more effective durability than one of the same level that was much smaller. That was simply not how the System worked. It might be harder to take down, given the size, but the damage that the mana cannon and the Crystalline Devastator had done to its body showed that it was not invincible.
Sam clambered up its foot like a monkey, watching as the others made their way on as well. They did not have the ability to teleport, instead having to wait until the foot landed to hop on. As Sam climbed, the others followed suit. Their goal was to reach the monster’s head. However, at the rate it was going, it would reach the city before long. They were running out of time.
Sam started to chain teleports up the creature’s leg, but ran out of Dao energy by the time he reached its knee. It was so large, that his mind had stopped recognizing it as a monster at some point. It was like he was simply on top of a moving mountain. A never ending barrage of attacks from the city wore down the monster’s defenses, but it was still going strong. It was far too powerful to be defeated by such weak attacks.
Some of the missiles had reloaded by this point, and another barrage slammed home. This time, the monster felt it, and a tremor shuddered up and down its body, almost dislodging Sam. However, the damage was heavily dispersed, given the massive size of the creature. It righted itself, and kept going, only a few miles away from the city at this point. A few more strides would take it there.
