He felt confident enough in his abilities now to try something new, and he summoned the powerful lance of his Sky Splitting Wrath ability to his left hand, before pumping some of his new Dao energy into it. The weapon began to pulse brightly, blue light blending with the red hue that it already possessed. With a roar, he threw the spear, aiming at the thickest concentration of enemy forces.
A moment later, it struck, exploding in a firestorm of red and blue. The explosion extended outward for a hundred feet, more than it had before, and when it dissipated, nothing was left standing. Sam whooped in joy,and used his teleportation ability to wink out of existence, and into the throng nearby. It was tiring, but it made the thrill of battle far more invigorating. A basic teleport of 10 feet in any direction took about an eighth of his entire Dao energy pool, with each additional ten feet adding another eighth. It was quite intensive, but with the sheer depth and recovery speed of his Dao, he was able to make it work somewhat. He still was nowhere near enough being able to use it constantly, or chain it in any manner, but it was a great utility skill.
He sensed himself coming closer and closer to finding a System registered skill in the process as he furthered his mastery over the technique, and he was confident in finding it quite soon. His level was slowly increasing as he fought as well, the steady horde of decently leveled aliens providing him with enough essence to make leveling easy enough, although it was noticeably slower than when he had started here. The millions, if not tens of millions, of fighters surrounding him were virtually never ending.
He fought for another thirty minutes, gaining an additional level in the process, and coming ever closer to forming his new skill. However, he sensed a change in the flow of the battle around him, and he could feel that his easy massacre would not continue for much longer. A few of the elites were coming his way, all of whom could be seen barging through the ranks of their lower level brethren. Even worse, they seemed to be from both sides of the opposing armies. A squadron of bulky reptile brutes came charging from one side, and a small platoon of geared up fish men came from the other side. Both species had names, but Sam could not remember either of them, the information too banal for him to have focused much on retaining. They were trying to kill him, and he was trying to kill them, so it hardly mattered in any case.
The weaker enemies around him started to scatter as their leaders came running in, and Sam widened his stance, grinning widely. As the aliens came within range, he teleported towards the nearest one, a scarred lizard man wielding a mighty crude iron ax, wrought with a strange red substance woven into the metal, and sent his hammer flying into the unprepared man’s face.

The alien was sent flying backwards, Sam’s strike taking it off its feet. His level and power had increased since last time he had fought here, and while the difference was small enough, it was most certainly noticeable.
Sam laughed, and moved in, ready for the carnage to come. The lizard men near him prepared themselves, not letting his sudden appearance deter them. All of them were around level 80, and they were clearly experienced soldiers, having been able to adapt to Sam’s powers.
Sam teleported once more, appearing behind one of the lizards, with his hammer raised. However, one of the other aliens got in the way, parrying his blow with his sword. However, the alien staggered backwards at the force contained within Sam’s blow, feeling every ounce of muscle training that Sam had packed in during the last few days with Gordanus. Despite his strength not having increased by much, its actual physical effect had gone up drastically.
The nearby aliens backed away slightly, recognizing the threat that Sam posed. However, a new enemy approached, flying over the heads of their fellow soldiers. It was another one of the lizard people, but this one was clearly female, judging by the build of its body.
She was dressed in a richly woven robe, and carried a crystalline staff in one hand. A faint nimbus of power surrounded her, and Sam raised one eyebrow. It seemed that the society of the aliens was divided sharply between the genders, with the males serving as grunts, and the females presumably filling the role of mage.
As the woman approached, flying on a disk of light, Sam smiled, batting away the attacks of his assailants. The fish men were approaching as well, but seemed reluctant about getting into the middle of the fight, instead content to send in projectile attacks, not caring whether they hit Sam or the lizards.
The robed woman was nearing the conflict, and as she approached, she extended her staff, causing the weapon to glow with a silvery blue light. A beam of power shot out of her staff and towards Sam, striking not him, but the ground next to him. He moved instinctively as the earth erupted outwards, sending a wave of animated rock towards him.
Grasping tendrils of stone reached for his legs, avoiding the other fighters around him. Sam brought his hammer down in an effortless arc, shattering the rock that the lizard mage had sent against him. With a snap of his fingers, a spear of energy formed in his left hand, and he threw it, straight towards the floating mage.
The woman’s eyes widened as she realized the power contained within Sam’s attack, and she hurriedly wove a shield around herself, creating a dome of light that intercepted his atack. The spear of energy struggled against her shield, but Sam had no time to watch his handiwork, instead laying into the nearby lizard men.
