On the outside of the hive, there are large structures used to collect resources. Pillers and formations of rocks and materials gathered and hardened, held together through net-structures, Pillers, and supports yet the nets reach so far further. Tied together into structure on which plants gather and sometimes are caught.
The moving portions on the nets left more free-floating are where fish are kept, some pull is required to better catch them and some material-food, is returned to help grow other materials, much floats past, but some grows, and that is where we create more stable structures.
There is output to the hive, materials unused and the moving of them creates a stream and an opening constant movement and flows keep stuff coming towards the nets, and there are sacks of waste material within, where fish fight and the leftovers are collected. Other creatures dwell in the deep, and some consume the matter on the nets, but there is always something left. Those that consume of the nets, that damage the net. Those are hunted and destroyed.

There is constant maintenance of the nets for these sustain our hive. And parts are constantly brought in, processed and returned, cleared of materials, and made stick again. This is the majority of the hive, areas of the nets where things grow that have been covered and built over. And when the material and structure needed to build more comes to an end, we simple need wait and collect, it will grow. It will gather. And we shall collect and process, tie down, and cover that which can support other stuff. The pressure of multiple nets can help it become more solid, and some of what grows on top of it will be smoothed and processed over.
