He Who Keeps Time awoke from his stupor understanding the work of his predecessor to be lacking. He kept time, and he kept track of some things, especially when the war came around, but there is more to the role than realizing when things happen so that

There are the feeding lists. Those should not be the job of They Who Know Where Things Are. There is the results list, if some do not fulfill their declared roles, they would not be able to earn enough to sustain the memories required to fulfill their tasks. And it would be necessary for them to perform different tasks.

There was more to the role than counting time. It was knowing when things should be done.

He Who Processes Food liked the role, and only had it thanks to Zur, choosing him as a replacement. But there was some resentment there. He was not satisfied with where he was. Zur, understood this at least and gave him the shares with previous memories of the task. Zur, had created new memories, derived form those, and he did not need to perform the action at that scale. He accepted the Gratitude, and was off.
