Chapter 15.2: Self (part 2)

Wim was needed for the war. But he was not needed as He Who Speaks With Giants. He was needed in the role of He Who Understands Vibrations. So with the others, he helped adjust and adjust the vibration plates. Adjusting them to the movements of the enemy.

He acted as a third with the pathfinding devices. Accuracy was necessary and he was better with the deeper tones.

And he helped adjust a few devices with the traps. The rest of them were occupied and they needed someone in that role.

He continued acting out this role to the fullest. Not that he was the best, but he was running low on shards. Without the less important work such as what he was doing, he would not be able to accomplish the great project that makes him He Who Speaks With Giants.

Zur still does not know who Zur is. So Zur examines what he knows and experiments. Zur had been He Who Processes Food and more recently She Who Gets Others Fed. Well, Zur actually ended up being She Who Creates Food That Get Others To Eat.

And Zur experimented. Efficiency was less important at the moment than speed, food that inspired a desire to eat. Food that made stupor easier. Food in capsules that would stick to the body so that they could eat while acting elsewhere. Food that was absorbed quickly. But in doing that Zur almost died. It got absorbed too quickly but it was imperfect, and consuming it damaged the body. And could end it entirely.

It was dangerous, but it could serve the hive. Zur signaled He Who Knows Where Things Are and was guided to The Who Make Traps.

He Who Makes Traps saw the food, no the poison. And inquired on its use.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Zur had become He Who Processes Food to avoid war. Zur could not work on this further. He handed the shard to He Who Makes Traps. And went out. Still considering.

What was Zur?

Vur signaled to the scout. Bring her to Zim Who Processes Food. If there is one who has the understanding need to complete this project it would be him. And so the scout guided her, inquiring, why she was going so far to get food.

Because Zim is known, Zim is He Who Is Best At Processing Food. According to the communications, she had been seeking. So to him, she would go.

----------------------------------------

Zim processed food. But to remain, Zim, he needed to process food better. All who took food here knew that Zur was He Who Is Best At Processing Food. And he would remain in that role. So he worked, faster, better, more efficiently, making use of what the fewer experiences would have wasted. And a guide came with one from afar.

She reached out to him, and he responded. It seemed he was mistaken, this was He Who Makes Traps.

There was a food, no a poison that was needed for the traps. He Who Makes Traps, wanted it improved, made to be as the food absorbed without thought, and produced. If there was something that simply constrained perception without the final death effect that would actually be better.

He could make it better, but it would be a waste of food and food was getting to be scarce as time moved on. Yet if this would be required to source food again he could spare some. Most of what would be used would be waste materials, with absorption assist being the parts of traditional food needed. He would create it, then find a young one who could process the poison, it was not him.

Gratitude. she sent. He Who Knows Where Things Are would guide back the young one, call them by vibrating the guide-net at this frequency. And he was left with a shard.

There was a guide-net? Huh, that was new.

We created Sail-gliders and rotating-sail-gliders. The rotation ones were more effective, but it required Hwir, He Who Sees Sail-Gliders, to work in his role to put it together. He saw the pieces in production and changed them not to get in each other's way.

We worked, we built, we tested, we invented. And we created one after the other, all falling into our role. Progressing in our work.

Until the scout was brought in.
