Chapter 20.2: He Sees (Part 2)

He Who Sees returned he retrieves an "eye" but as he goes back out I call to him. He reaches to me and the first thing I feel from him is frustration, he is angry at me, but he is quick to put it away.

I remember skymaps, areas. There was a He Who Flies. A role in times of peace, and with eyes, we can create skymaps so that the role may flourish.

He returns, calmed, he will bring me with him, I shall put the skymap on a shard of my own, I shall contact those in that role I shall see through his eye, and do what I can to enhance his perception with my own.

But before we go out he inquires, I became a being of war?

----------------------------------------

Why did Ur-Im become a being of war, when? Was he born this way? it is a warrior's thought that he uses to name himself. But he has no love for the results of the conflict. Why was he involved? And is his perception that of a warrior?

It is that of a survivor. A hunter, but a member of a group. A result of his broken pod demanding a role when none are revealed to him and accepting the first one given.

He is just young, and his perception reflects that, but with something more. This is a useful conclusion. The rest of this thinking shall be done once my perceptions have been organized.

----------------------------------------

And we left, and he gave it no thought. There was an efficiency to his behavior. and he managed the process of leaving without sending the thought. So we left, keeping in touch only enough to share perception. He does not want to think about the loss of the other eye. But I need to remember to pay him back. So that I may be complete.

----------------------------------------

There was a disturbance traveling through the pod, a large form moving at speed faster than that of one of us. Was it an enemy? Are there more of them among us? She Who Learns Through Stupor broke out of our thought participation and to see.

We worried, but before we could come to a conclusion they returned. It was he who sees, moving a device dwelling with one who felt like an enemy, but not those in the captured pods. And not those who resist our forces. She wanted the thoughts of the one called Ur-Im, and the reason she considered her to be a Tim, a thought like that of the others, but not of our current enemies.

We returned to our thoughts.

----------------------------------------

Who was she? Pain, It was a small pain but pain nonetheless. Well, here it comes again. Fine, I get it, I'll focus on the task.

----------------------------------------

There were a few that flew, that passed by to question us. But they were none of them were just He Who Flies. Some were scouts, some were warriors. Some defined their role by knowing where another one was, inefficient. But all were seen passing by us and they stopped us for their inquiries.

I would have none of it. I am He Who Sees, and my role is just as I am acting it out. I need not waste time and waking thoughts on qualifying my actions. Those who benefit know me, and I use what I have acquired through my own efforts to sustain it. That is my answer and you shall be on with your roles, whatever they be.

I am wanted? Fine, but an interruption of my thoughts and actions I require a price until you deliver it to me I shall continue on my task. You are not my student begone.

----------------------------------------

He Who Fixes Nets recognized the passing of Ur-Im, and He Who Sees. He went towards them to inquire from Ur-Im... He felt the vibrations coming off them. He Who Sees Was Frustrated. He would inquire later.

----------------------------------------

There were passing waves of frustration, anger, even a bit of fear vibrating through the hive. They Who Remembered War were worried. Had an enemy gotten in again? Was there conflict in the hive? What was causing their agents to act this way. And where was He Who Sees?

----------------------------------------

I pushed towards He Who Sees. And I felt a wave of pain and frustration coming off him. Well, I felt pain for him it was probably just frustration.

What is it?

The frustration stopped. there was a bit of stillness. And I felt forgotten, lost, made to be nothing. He was not just a servant to follow the whims of the warriors. To pay the price of their failures. He too served the hive. And as soon as these scouts realized his worth in his current role they would provide the price of his attention.

He slowed his movements. We would complete our task and return to our pod.

And that was what we did.
