Chapter 50.2: To Prevent Death

Chapter 50.2: To Prevent Death

There is great action in the hive, pursuing a method of preventing injury, preventing death. Presented by one who is now in stupor.

Does She Who Remembers know of this?

She knows the one who inspired this. Ur-Im, He Who Names, she knows of him.

But what if the method's source?

This one had a damaged hive, and spent much time working with Zur, who once processes food. And had even given Zim, his title. It might have been a branch of inspiration. Or it might have been taken from an enemy pod, captured in war.

What of these pods? Were they not held by They Who Remember the Dead? And... the fearful one, and this idea is bourne of fear. Correction, some were given to successful scouts and warriors. Some were processed. All those specifically preserved were given to They Who Remember the Dead. Or processed further by the fearful one.

The one you think of as the fearful one, is She Who Decided What is Forgotten. Is that the case?

The thought echoed through, and a wave of emotional anger came back.

Apologies, that shall be taken as confirmation. But not all pods ended up being processed. And Ur-Im, had been harmed by the enemy, and so took the enemy's pod to try and repair itself.

And the enemies had forms of preventing injury. Maybe even healing. They Who Keep The Hive Organized in Case Of War shall seek out these pods. And see if there are any who can learn from them without becoming them.

And She Who Remembers has little input as another He Who Remembers War communicates.

But we know that those of the hive, can be turned to the enemy. And that there were traitors in our midst, we cannot know if the enemy thoughts shall take part of stupor.

But what of this Ur-Im?

It shall not happen to all, but to those weak to the influence...

If we pursue this the next time that enemy comes they may be able to destroy the hive from within.

Here She Who Remembers inquires, Do They Trust her kind?

They only trust that they are working for the betterment of the hive.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

What of the new She Who Remember War?

She is still one of them, but she does not know of others outside the hive well enough to be of import here.

Do they believe that there are any who can hold memories of the enemies without being corrupted?

There are some, but they cannot know which are like that.

What of those who cannot bring themselves to cause harm.

It will lessen their loyalty to They Who Remember War. As the harm is repulsive to them. And it would drive them further from our commands.

But would it be for the good of the hive. For if it would be, She and others like her could keep them in check. As She Who Remembers trusts Them as much as They Who Remember War trust her.

Mrei, He Who Delivers Food, enters. And he reaches to their everchanging conglomeration. So Wur accomplished her task? If he is here?

It was a mighty task, and she passed it on to the guides, They who know where things are, They who deliver parcels...

A majority of roles acting in unison. They shall be termed to the Guides, as while less complete. At the variety of their tasks, it is more efficient.

He shall bring it up to them, but it is likely that they shall accept that.

So the roles exist.

The roles exist in parts of the hive. But they have not the resources to spread it to the entirety of the hive.

Could they not pay to expand it further?

She Who Remembers Interrupts here. They cannot, the hive has not infinite resources, and they only have what can be put aside for times of war. It is not likely that it will last. But the act of reminding others can accomplish the role.

Mrei responds. It will not be sufficient for it would cost them to travel like that. They can do so when parcels need to be delivered, but those having things delivered to are not all that need it.

What of the role of preventing injury? Preventing death? At the very least they can be paid for preventing loss of thought.

The materials in needed for that are not yet sufficient to provide to all, and to gather that information we need better information and observation skills.

She Who Remember inquires from Mrei, unprompted. Do they have any that can be given thoughts of enemies and not be affected by them?

There are some among them, Crui, and those who follow his paths. They were once scouts, and they know war. So they would not be willing to cause such harm to the hive.

But they might understand the damage caused by the enemy.

They are some who took this role for they care for others in the hive. If we find them, they will be unwilling to betray the hive as long as more are within than there are enemies without.

And these enemies are not more than us. We shall have enemy pods put into their use, to help recognize signs of injury...

This was interrupted, as it was not sufficient. They would bring more of the Guides to discuss this. Mrei's role was already becoming more similar to being He Who Prevent Some Death. So if young were to be supported for this role, they might be able to make something of this.

She Who Remembers thinks they cannot. Not without help. And she shall gathers other she's to help with this. Some act in ways that prevent forms of death already. And they can find others and the young who wish to embrace such roles.

So it is agreed, they shall gather and communicate, and create systems and roles to prevent death.

And the hive begins to move again.
