Chapter 35.2: Succsessors of a Sort (part 2)

Ur-Im came, with She Who Flies. He would move his pod and materials ot be with her, there was affection there, and until He was repaid he could not become He Who Sees.

Would he become He Who Sees with Her? He would, but this he was needed now.

They could see no problem with that, though it pained them to part, but first they would share observations and talk of peace.

Ur-Im thought he could become He Who Shares Observations. But despite the depth of perspectives, he could not communicate clearly with many. He sent Apologies.

There was danger and activity was starting anew, but the interference of those such as He Who Minimizes Flow prevented some expressions of war. Yet it was not enough, and while the war had time to survive, it would go to war soon.

Ur-Im inquired, why was there so much wealth, in the hive, why could so many have many shards and larger pods.

She Who Remembers responded, there was a lack of important roles. One minimizes flow, while others barely move pods. Few duplicate shards and only she is free to transfer memories on request.

And so there was communication, there was understanding, to a degree. And it would be expanded further, but others came and interrupted. And the understanding was sufficient for the task at hand. And the task at hand was more important than the understanding...

others are here, we shall socialize.

----------------------------------------

He had completed his obligations to his squad, so he reached out to Zur, we should be on our way.

But Zur was conceded. He would come, because for He Who Flies. But...

There was no other reason, they would go to She Who Remembers. And they would find him a place.

And so they flew. And he carried Zur.

----------------------------------------

He had no place. There was no place for Zur. And Zur was carried. But he owed those trying to help him. So he would move himself.

They reached an over-pod. And they entered, and he was greeted, not by She Who Remembers. But by the one who gave him a name.

And yes, he knew what a name was. It was not a title or a proper label, it was a meaningless thing to be. A representative element. And for some, it serves a purpose. But what purpose does it serve for Zur? He is of no value?

He was given a shard. Why? Why did he deserve... Oh, Zur provided food. Zur saved lives by providing food. But even in that, he was replaced. There were better ones to do so. And he only helped when others were missing.

And he could not fill those roles thought of. The roles that were needed to be filled. Zur had not that... And he was interrupted by Pain!

War, conflict, starvation. It needed to be prevented. It mattered not Zur's skill. But as one who understood, names he needed to wield the giver of names memories, assist He Who Flies in converting warriors to peace. There were no others who could understand Ur-Im's shards.

Zur had a task. A role. He would act in this case. As the hive would die without it.

Zur does not believe fully. But he is needed and it shall be done.

----------------------------------------

He Who Flies met his role's originator. And... There were few similarities. She communed with him, and inquired of his being, of his self. She would remember even if slightly. But she was a social being to a different degree. And that was what was driving him. He was valuable in his previous roles. And what he had created of them.

He accepted her teachings and would gain more when she awoke. But he needed to be more efficient. For them if not for himself.

----------------------------------------

So I left, with She Who Flies. Zur followed, on partial wings of his own. She Who Remembered slept, so her easy-glider went to Zur.

And he needed a purpose. And he could act as well as I could, that's for sure. I couldn't even communicate clearly. And he was perceptive enough if given the understanding. I'm not sure he'd see that. But we do need to stop the war and...

I shall defer to Wur's excitement. She is a teacher. She is a progenitor. And while the student does not understand his role fully, he values efficiency too much. He is He Who Flies, because of her.

And it was only the effect of her actions she wouldn't even have met him otherwise. Her interactions' interactions created this.

And He Who Flies Follows And Leads.

And she shall teach him more, and create a greater impact than many before her. But first, she needs stupor, she shall see what memories he creates in the shards he returns to her.
