Chapter 33: He Flies Again

Chapter 33: He Flies Again

He Who Minimizes Flows was organizing the movement of pods. The scouts wanted their flightpaths cleared, so he was doing what he could to control the flows within the hive. The pods would need a better system of individual seals, and that was being worked on. He quickly tagged on, for the war effort. It was being worked on for the war effort. His was a social role, he needed to have the right thoughts.

Nim, a scout reached to him, those in the stupor pods are awakening. Good, now their pods could be positioned. He went to the waking ones and reached out

There were thoughts, chaotic, disorganized, those of one who just awakened. Nim inquired, what is the role?

He Who Flies. A new role. Not understood fully, but to follow in her footsteps for meaning.

Nim pushed further,

He Flew Wings Of War. But flight is the defining factor, and there exists a role in She Who Flies.

That's all well, and good. But your pod needs to be moved to create the flight paths. She Who Flies will pass in her rounds soon. But until then, and as payment and work. You shall perform your role to assist in this task.

He Who Flies had a purpose within his role. He did, he needed to assist with the movement of pods. Yet, he could not carry them. He flew but he did not create wings. And the carriers moved without them.

He reached to one of them and inquired, what is Nim's role?

A message returned, He Who Minimizes Flows. And they disconnected.

Ah, and flows disrupted flight too. So when flying he would be aware of flow as it would disrupt his path and he would adjust. he would keep track and trace them. So he would help minimize flows.

So he inquired of another, of the target destinations for his pod. There were options, and Zur's pod needed to be moved as well. He would leave Zur a shard explaining. So he chose a destination and began to fly through it.

And as he flew he encountered scouts, flying through to spot disturbances and clear the way to make better paths within the hive. Alongside them, there were guides moving slower but with more experience. They inquired on his being, His role was He Who Flies. And he projected what he was doing and the methods discovered. Ths scouts understood, and he began to organize a unit, like those of war but in service of peace.

So his unit distributed their roles, to fly together, to sense disruptions, to adapt, to remember, and to trace them down.

And he leads this, and he returns to Nim to communicate that which will be done. Nim returns gratitude, and a difficult-to-understand thought.

They connect further and he sends it again. It can and should be done with some of the speed and inefficiency of war, for the quicker, it is done, the more efficient the entirety of the hive becomes. And that energy saved is greater overall.

And that thought, the equation. It is brilliant, it is the essence of some roles. And knowing this is necessary for the role of He Who Flies. So he requests the equation and saves the inquiry within a shard. He Who Duplicates Shards or She Who Transfers Memories shall complete it further.

----------------------------------------

He Who Counts Time was in stupor, and now he awakens. And the other has taken the role. And expanded upon it. For this, there needs be more of them, but it is not his role to find them. So he puts the thought aside to give to those who deal with these things.

But the expanded role was important, its existance made him into He Who Counts Time. And counting time was an expanded role upon itself, a role he would act in, instead of keeping time. As it took less energy to sustain, and who would need to keep time when the other fell back into stupor.
