Chapter 73
She continued running and she wasn’t going to stop until she couldn’t smell that disgusting scent anymore. Its a miracle she achieved any sort of distance without tripping or stumbling overmuch along the way.
But it seemed like she crossed a boundary of some sort because past a certain point the horrible scent continued to diminish the further away she went.
She finally came to a stop and took a moment to stop gagging and tearing up. When it looked like she was past the worst of it, she studied her surroundings. First thing she realized was that there were no more white things popping out of the ground. She also heard the occasional bird sounds.

She thought every animal had already ran away by now, including the flying kind. This forest was doomed. The … the fire already destroyed so much why would they stay?
As she pondered this she heard a faint trickling close by… water?
That might be why some birds were sticking around. They might need some water for their long journey away from this place.
Something about this was really freaking her out though. When she collapsed back there she felt … she felt like something was looking after her. The repeated awakenings. The water that seemed to come from nowhere drenching her surroundings. Even the stench.
What it just so happened to drive her to a source of water? The more she thought about it, she was barely keeping out of the fire herself when she first ran away. How was it she could not only sleep once but three times without dying in the fire?
No.
Her instincts were telling her something weird was happening in the forest.
