Chapter 123
I find myself quiet eager for tomorrow to come. New experiences after so long alive are difficult to come by.
The conversation between us did not end well however in talking to Guardian i realized that though thoroughly necessary a lot of actions i have taken in the past are … short sighted.
I find myself with a better understanding of the elder who invented the nodule. When the invention was first discovered and shared most elders were confused. Why would we ever desire to talk to other life forms?
Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.
It was a nifty thing but no one save the elder who invented the nodule used it.
Now I understood. Though completely different entities, all elders think in similar ways. Having access to different perspectives is illuminating.
As I reminisce and recontextualize my past actions I get an alert from the network.
It is not a tree as I expect but a bush.
I typically do not bother with alerts such as these as plants of a smaller intelligence can be quiet effusive in their messages but this one is unusual.
Unusual in the fact that a creature has just burrowed near their area and has damaged their roots. Creatures do not often make a habit of returning so soon after a disaster has come and passed.
I encourage the bush to calm itself and send it nutrients so that it can repair itself. I hesitate in sending anything else. If this were a tree within my colony I would send it a chemical that would encourage the creature to leave but this particular shrub would not even know what to do with the chemical.
In the end I resolutely stand aside and hope no other danger befalls it.
