Chapter 141

Chapter 141

She looked around to see if she could spot more white roots and she did.

For a second the taste of the vine overwhelmed her sense of reason and she was tempted into throwing herself and diving straight into the water to take a bite.

Common sense fortunately kicked in and she carefully backed up and swore she would never look into the water again.

Which… honestly could also prove fatal for her.

She remembered that predators could come from anywhere and everywhere.

Land, sky and water predators were all something her mom drilled into her and her siblings’ heads when they were younger to be wary of.

She even took us to the local water hole one time and forced us to wait for what felt like days but was probably closer to a couple hours. Usually they would just play fight each other to pass the time but she growled at them every time they got carried away.

Until finally it happened.

A local family of herbivores were drinking at the water hole when suddenly a creature bit the child on the throat and quickly dragged it into the water to consume it.

It all happened so fast that they all nearly missed it. And even if any of them did, they couldn’t have missed that both parents were crying and looking around in panic to see if their child could be saved.

… she wished she didn’t have to remember this memory in particular.

Anyways from then on they all payed closer attention to their mother so disregarding her warnings now seemed only serve to jeopardize her further so she quickly recanted her promise and swore she would pay closer attention to the water but would swear she would avoid any white vines and even flowers from now on.
