Chapter 151
Maybe the lichen idea of mine was a little too brilliant. The nutrients I was accruing from this project were all being directed into the primitive storage bank system I devised.
However with all the hubbub going on I quickly resolved to create one huge brick of mycelium tightly packed together until I could manage to focus more on the project itself.
I could reorganize it all now but I was eager to contact the pain mushroom and buttons so as soon as I was done with checking in on my projects I would create a nodule at the base of my connection to both buttons and the pain mushroom.

The bde monument was still huge and glorious as always.
My sensory network was not expanding as it once was but it still spanned over a hefty portion of the area.
In fact it was large enough for me to realize that animals were slowly coming back. Every now and again I would feel the steps of an animal. Hopefully the ecosystem would go back to normal.
I would have been a bit of afraid them returning if it wasn’t for the repelling chemical that kept them away.
It wasn’t perfect though. Sometimes I would belatedly feel one of my mushrooms, almost always the ones I used to spread the water spores, disappear. And it sucked.
I’m sure they were just thirsty or whatever and somehow smelled the water on them but I didn’t like being the prey to their predator.
To add salt into the wound I couldn’t even tap into the hub to get some more of the chemical without going through elder and asking if I could.
Which I mean I could but I was already in a delicate spot with it and the whole forest.
I didn’t want to step on anyones metaphorical toes.
