Chapter 164
She had long since quickly made her way back to her burrow.
When she did make it back, she stood in front of the entrance and scrutinized it in its entirety for a long time. There didn’t seem to be any white roots around nor was there anything distinctly white anywhere near her burrow.
But she wanted to be extra cautious.
She tentatively took a step inside. The second she saw anything resembling a white root or anything weird she was out. She swore she would abandon the burrow and indeed abandon this entire strange forest.

Fortunately she didn’t find anything there.
She didn’t know what it was about it exactly but the white root seemed to have an intelligence, which was not normal. And normal kept her safe. Normal wouldn’t threaten her. Normal kept her alive.
Every now and again she checked the burrow.
And she did this because just before she was eating the white root she remembered walking towards it not feeling anything beneath her snap.
That the white root on top of the tree even moved in the first put her on edge but the fact that it grew that fast beneath her put her into panic mode.
So now she made sure to check in and around the burrow for the … white tendrils.
She was more stressed now than ever before and she was very tempted to just leave and never look back, but she stayed. She stayed because she had nowhere else to go.
She had no one left.
