I was never the pranking type back on earth but something about being trapped as a mushroom for days, being under threat from natural disasters, and being threatened specifically from an asshole entity really brought it out of me.

I wanted a big fat drop of water to hit them squarely on their head but i didn’t know if the wind would push the water spore away from its intended target.

In the end I just decided to make it rain on the little fella. Besides filling a singular spore so full of water was a bit tricky. I was going to release a bunch of water spores. Through all my efforts the animal was still staying completely motionless. It was utterly baffling.

On the one hand it was great I get to play my prank without them avoiding it but on the other why the hell was it standing still.?

I mean it wasn’t even laying down.

It was almost like those animals from the discovery channel. Caught under the gaze of a predator, staying absolutely still and hoping that they went unnoticed. But that didn’t make sense, there were no other animals that could sense in the vicinity, unless there was a flying one I couldn’t detect.

But my monument’s mushroom cap should be completely obfuscate jade from sight of a flying predator. Not to mention the repelling chemical should make them steer clear of the area. Still … if jade could come close without being affected, it stood to reason others could.

Not much I could actually do about that though.

I was just about done growing all the water spores anyway. I wanted them all to fall down at the same time so I filled them all halfway first. They grew somewhat haphazardly and I didn’t really have that much control in their growth. It felt sort of like an internal switch that once flipped would start the production of spores, at that point I would be able to finagle water onto each of the spores. I got the process down to a science back when I first happened upon the idea during the fire.

But back then I didn’t have to worry about releasing them all in one go. So I took some extra precautions this time. Once I got them all halfway filled with water, I would rapidly top them off and scare the hell outta jade.
