Chapter 102
What scared her most of all?
She recognized this type of mushroom. Granted the ones she saw weren’t as big as this one but the coloring and shape match up perfectly.
She saw a lot of mushrooms with the exact same coloring right before everything started to go wrong. Right before … her family …
She didn’t move a muscle. Memories started crowding her head.
Memories of the bad times plagued her. Nipping at the scant control she had of her emotions.

She tried to rein in her thoughts back under control, but then the memories of the good times hit her. And it was all she could do to not collapse then and there.
Through it all she stood still. She wanted to run and run until she couldn’t think anymore but she was still frozen. And it wasn’t just the memories that kept her there.
The mushroom.
Mushrooms popped up everywhere right before everything went bad. Was it going to happen again?
She didn’t know.
She was frozen in grief but she was also frozen in fear.
Finally something slightly snapped her out of that state. A drop of water hit her on her torso.
Instead of immediately running away the moment it hit her, she glanced up.
Where did it come from?
Then whoosh.
Water slammed onto the ground and her body.
She nearly jumped out of her skin. But it completely snapped her out of the memories so she was somewhat thankful.
Then the smell hit her full force.
