Chapter 122
After finding some more flowers and some moss she began the search for her new home.
She wanted the burrow close to the water. Something about being close to it soothed her.
She decided to dig one relatively close by but still obscured somewhat, she glanced around and spotted a bush. She got closer and investigated, she determined this place to be an appropriate locale for her burrow.
She got to digging. Sore as she was she did a poor job of it and struck a root a few times. Eventually she got a large enough space that seemed right for her. Though an important lesson her mother taught her and her siblings struck her: when making a burrow it was best to spread the displaced dirt so that predators do not get suspicious.

After making her burrow and hiding the dirt she grew a bit thirsty.
She went for a drink but before she reached the water she stood stock still. The birds and insects who had been so cheery and loud before had suddenly gone quiet.
She had long since learned that when the forest grew quiet and not one bird sung it was sure to be the result of some predator roaming about on the hunt.
She did not expect a predator to be prowling so soon after the fire but here she was.
She was tempted to quickly escape into her newly created burrow but at the moment it was best to stay quiet and stay still until the danger passed.
If she saw the danger coming for her though she was sure to sprint away and make it to her home.
She was glad she built it, she just didn’t know she would need one so soon.
