Chapter 205: Phone Call

Later that night

Lilica and Kazuya had just finished their shower and was about to turn in for the day when suddenly, Kazuya’s phone rang.

Seeing that it was from one of his subordinates, Kazuya answered the phone, wondering what had happened for them to call him.

“Second Prince.” The man greeted.

“Speak.” Kazuya answered.

“Our apologies, second prince. We lost Miss Ellie.” The man reported, feeling a little scared as to whether he was going to get scolded.

Kazuya was surprised that even the best knights of the demon realm couldn’t even keep track of a little girl. However, it was within his expectations since he knew that the enemy wouldn’t just let him track Ellie so easily.

“What happened?” Kazuya asked as he got ready to change out of his pajamas. Lilica sensed that something probably went wrong so she wanted to walk to the wardrobe to fetch his clothes.

“We followed her into a bar but just as we entered, some customers inside distracted us and when we looked back, she was already gone!” the man replied seriously.

As he listened to his subordinate’s report, Kazuya saw that Lilica was trying to get up from the bed to help him, so he quickly stopped her and made a face that said, ‘You don’t need to get up. I’ll get my clothes myself.’

Lilica frowned a little since she wanted to help him in some way but the feeling of being treasured made her happy. Kazuya kissed her forehead and hugged her as he continued listening to his subordinates.

“Got it. I’ll head over soon.” Kazuya said as he hung up.

“Did something happen?” Lilica asked as she hugged him back.

“I need to head out for a bit. It seems like they’ve lost sight of Ellie. I’ll go over to help search for her.” Kazuya replied as he reluctantly got up to change out of his pajamas.

“Is it that urgent? If they lost sight of her just now, she should still be around there. Do you need to go over?” Lilica asked clingily. She didn’t know why but she didn’t want him to go. The feeling became stronger the more she thought about it. What if this was a trap by the enemy to lure Kazuya into their hideout? What if he couldn’t come back out alive?

“This isn’t the first time I’ve gone out in the middle of the night to help with the investigation. What are you so worried for?” Kazuya asked as he stroked her head dotingly.

“I don’t know but I just feel like this might be a trap. Can I go with you?” Lilica asked as she looked into his cold eyes worriedly. Although she knew that she would just be a burden if she went together with him, with her stomach being so big already, she still wanted to go along with him.

“No, you can’t. It’s too dangerous.” As expected, Kazuya declined her request quickly. He didn’t want her to be harmed in any way.

“But…” Lilica trailed off, afraid that what she was thinking would turn real if she said it.

“You don’t need to worry. I’ll definitely return home safely. You just need to stay home and take good care of yourself. By tomorrow, I’ll be back sleeping right next to you before you know it.” Kazuya tried to reassure his wife.

“Really?” Lilica still felt anxious at the thought of him possibly being in any danger.

“Really. I promise.” Kazuya replied with a reassuring smile as he bent down to kiss her lips.

Lilica still couldn’t shake the bad feeling she had away, even though all her anxiousness usually disappeared with just a kiss from him.

“Why are you still making that face? Don’t you trust me? Anyways, it’s just locating Ellie so I shouldn’t be in that much danger. You don’t need to worry.” Kazuya stroked her soft cheeks dotingly as he gave her another kiss.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just that I have this really bad feeling…” Lilica replied as she became even more clingy. She hugged Kazuya so that he wouldn’t be able to go.

Kazuya felt helpless. He really wanted to stay with her right now, with how she was being so cute to him. But Ellie’s matter was also very important. What if this was the last clue to the enemy’s hideout? If he had let her get away like this, then he might not be able to get another chance at finding the enemy ever again.

The couple hugged in silence. Lilica could tell that Kazuya wanted to go find Ellie since she was a very important clue. After deliberating for some time, Lilica finally let go of him and said, “Alright, you can go. You need to return as quickly as you can so I can stop feeling so anxious. If I don’t find you by the time I wake up, I’ll be really angry with you.”

“Okay, I promise I’ll be right next to you when you wake up. You know that I’m a man of my word. Once I make a promise, I never break them. If I find the situation to be too dangerous, I’ll immediately retreat.” Kazuya then cupped her delicate face and planted another kiss before heading out.
