Chapter 127: Promise

Chapter 127: Promise

“Really. You’re the one I chose. Have more confidence in yourself.” Kazuya said as he looked straight into her beautiful eyes to reassure her.

“Okay…” Lilica whispered as she looked back at his magnetic eyes.

“Lilica, I need to ask you something first though.” Kazuya said in a serious tone.

Lilica was a little taken aback by his serious tone. He hadn’t been this serious with her ever since he proposed to her.

“What is it?” Lilica asked.

“I know you don’t want to think about what happened yesterday, but I need to ask you. Are you sure you want to marry me? Even if you may have to face many more dangers in the future?” Kazuya asked with expectant eyes.

“…Honestly, just the thought of what happened yesterday give me chills. If possible, I don’t want to experience something like that again.” Lilica answered as she observed his expression. The moment he heard her, his face fell. He looked like a little puppy that was about to be abandoned by its owner.

When Lilica saw his pitiful face, she reached to touch his handsome face gently and said, “But I just can’t part with you no matter what. I just love you too much.”

Lilica then tip toed and kissed him lightly, conveying her feelings. Kazuya heard her words and felt hopeful once again. He kissed her back happily, feeling happy that she didn’t abandoned him.

“Kazuya, can you promise me one thing?” Lilica asked, retreating her hand that was on Kazuya’s face. She then buried herself in his chest to hide her expression.

“Of course, I can.” Kazuya replied sweetly without even listening to her request first.

“Let me finish first.” Lilica said as she tried to make sure she was hiding her expression from him.

“What if… Just what if… What if one day, I was to die…” Lilica said with a shaky voice, her eyes starting to water at the thought of the bone-chilling experience yesterday.

“No! You’re not going to die! I won’t let anyone harm you!” Kazuya interrupted her as he tried his best to see Lilica’s face, but she had wrapped her arms around him, making it impossible to see her face.

“Listen to me! If I were to die one day, can you promise me that you won’t find another love? Can you promise me that you’ll never get married? I don’t want you to belong to another woman.” Lilica asked, her voice shaky. The incident yesterday made her think of what would happen if she were really killed. She realized that she was a very possessive and selfish person. Although she wanted Kazuya to be happy even without her, she didn’t want him to shower another woman with love.

“I promise you. I know I’ll never find someone I love as much as you.” Kazuya promised her. He noticed that her embrace had weaken so he quickly pushed her away, so he could see her face. He knew that she was crying inside already.

“Don’t hate me for this, okay? I know I’m selfish and…” Lilica said when she saw his alarmed expression.

“You’re not selfish at all! Everyone’s selfish when it comes to love, alright? Even I don’t want you to marry another guy if I were to be killed before our wedding. Anyways, you know that marriage in the demon realm is different from the human realm, right? Once married, if one of us dies then the other will also die. I need to ask you. Are you willing to marry me even if your life may constantly be in danger and you might die young?” Kazuya quickly reassured her as he asked her once again. He wanted her to be sure of their wedding. If she wasn’t ready and wanted to call the wedding off, he would do as she says and wait for her to be ready. He wasn’t going to let her go.

“Of course, I’m willing! I love you so much that it can’t be stopped!” Lilica blurted out when she saw how insecure he looked. She didn’t know that he was feeling so insecure all the time.

“I love you too. Much more than you could ever think.” Kazuya replied as he wiped her tears away and kissed her eyelids gently.

“…” Lilica stayed silent as she allowed him to kiss her, enjoying his affection.

“Go wash your face. It’s almost time for the banquet. Your parents and friends were also invited. You need to look pretty for them, so they’ll know I’m not bullying you. I’ll hand you over to Sharon for the meantime since I need to go deal with something first.” Kazuya teased her as he tried to move her mind away from the heavy topic.

“Where are you going?” Lilica asked curiously.

“Yesterday I had you go through some medical examinations to check whether you and the baby are safe or not. I’m going to get the results now.” Kazuya explained honestly.

“Do I need to go with you?” Lilica asked, feeling like she should go with him too since it was about her.

“No need. Just enjoy yourself at the banquet. It’s your welcome party.” Kazuya said as he stroked her hair lovingly before going out of the room. Sharon then knocked on the door after Kazuya left and the two women left to join the banquet.
