Kazuya noticed that Lilica looked uncomfortable going forward so he forced himself to walk on, just so he could prevent his wife from seeing a horrible scene. By now, he had a hunch that something was definitely going on, given the strong smell of blood that came from Lacey’s cell. He knew that no matter what it was, the scene was probably horrible to the eyes.
“Kazuya, you shouldn’t go too near or you’ll lose control of yourself.” Lilica said as she stopped him from walking forward.
“It’s fine. I know you’re reluctant to see the scene yourself. I think that she is either seriously injured or have already died. If she really did die, I don’t want the scene to stick in your mind.” Kazuya replied seriously.
“Hmm… Then hold in your breath so you don’t get too affected by the smell of blood.” Lilica said in a caring tone. It was true that she didn’t dare walk near since she knew that it was definitely going to be gory.
“Okay.” Kazuya said as he held his breath and walked towards the cell. The scene he saw was indeed gory. Lacey’s body was chopped up beyond recognition. Kazuya quickly called for the guards that weren’t vampires to clean up her corpse. He felt a little guilty that she had died within the palace and couldn’t escape because she was held prisoner by him. He decided that he was going to hold a funeral for her later.
Kazuya walked back to Lilica and Ken and told them what he saw. Ken was very shocked since it was only a few minutes since he had last spoke to her. He felt that he shouldn’t have left her alone. He was a little too excited that they had finally found a clue that he rushed to find Kazuya. If he had stayed with her until Kazuya and Lilica came to interrogate her, she wouldn’t have died.

After a while, the guards came and took her body away to be buried. That night, Lilica felt even more scared at the fact that someone had actually killed a demon inside the palace. It was scary to think there was a murderer in the palace.
“Kazuya… What should I do? I feel scared living here.” Lilica consulted Kazuya as she hugged him tightly. His strong arms always made her feel safer.
“I’m sorry. Tonight was all my fault. Although we knew that there are spies planted in the palace, we don’t know who the spies are.” Kazuya apologized as he stroked her head to console her.
“Can we just replace all the demons that we don’t really trust?” Lilica asked, thinking that there were probably only a few that weren’t people who weren’t trustworthy.
“Well, sadly, no. About 90% of the demons here are not close to the royal family so we can’t just fire 90% of them.” Kazuya replied.
“Hm… Then since this time the guards guarding the dungeon are suspicious, how about replacing just that section?” Lilica asked.
“I’ve already talked to father and he said that he’ll be replacing the guards that work near us. The guards guarding the front of the palace and all don’t need to be replaced.” Kazuya replied.
“I still feel insecure…” Lilica whispered softly. Although she knew that the guards would be replaced, there was still a possibility that the spies that are not guards are capable of killing too.
“Hm… How about we return to the human world then? That way, they can’t use magic to harm you blatantly and it will just be a few of us living together. If it’s in the human world then I can replace all the employees in our house. I can bring some of the trusted servants to the human world.” Kazuya suggested.
“Okay. Let’s do that then. When are we going back?” Lilica asked.
“Well, mother wants us to get married next month so maybe after our wedding? I doubt that they will be making any move soon since we’ve gotten more clues on them, so we should be fine for a month.” Kazuya answered as he bent down to kiss her lips.
“Okay.” Lilica replied as she kissed him back.
“Let’s sleep. We can talk about our wedding tomorrow.” Kazuya sweetly said as he carried her to their bed.”
“We’re already sleeping? But I want to eat you…” Lilica said as she circled her arms around his neck affectionately.
“As you wish.” Kazuya replied sweetly as he revealed his usual charming smile.
“I always find myself falling for you more and more.” Lilica sweetly replied back as she pulled him in for a deep kiss.
“Me too…” Kazuya replied in between their passionate kisses.
