Chapter 61: Worlds Fastest Change!
(Marinkia’s POV)
When I woke up, I was still holding my daughter. Or at least, I sure thought that I was. But who the hell was this? Ava had… I honestly don’t even recall what she looked like fully. The girl hugging me right now… is this Ava?
I guess… she changed overnight? What the hell… That’s kinda crazy. Looking at her now, she had long, pink hair that went down to her waist, and I can only assume that her eyes were the same color.
My eyes are golden, and so is my hair. Will… did I just accidentally make ANOTHER new variant of a Numen? Is our variant one that just has uniquely colored eyes? For now, not counting those special zombies, only Krul and I have unique eye colors… Fuck… Anna is going to have a field day with this.
Ava: “Good morning…” She said with a yawn.
Marinkia: “Good morning. Ava, go look in the mirror.” I suggest.
Oddly, this cafe had a lot of mirrors in it. I guess that was the theme they decided to go for, or something. Anyway, the barely awake girl nodded, and then did as I said. Once she looked in the mirror, she was confused, and soon let out a scream of surprise.
Ava: “What happened to my body!?” She yelled.
Marinkia: “You got lucky, Ava. For some reason, you evolved while sleeping.” I answer.
Ava: “Am… am I now a Numen, like you call yourself?” She asked with an unsure tone.
Marinkia: “That’s right. Look in the mirror again. Try channeling some hidden energy.” I explain.
Ava: “Okay, I’ll try.” She replied.
Looking in the mirror, Ava’s pink eyes began to glow pink. Her eyes were very pretty. Hell, all of her is. My daughter sure is beautiful! And, she seems to really like the change. Doing a similar narcissist thing that I did a while back, ogling herself in the mirror all over. Heh, cute…
Ava: “My glowing eyes are so pretty!” She gloated with glee.
While she was going through her short phase of narcism, I was using my PC. I once told Krul that having to go to a specific building to get a PC was a major hassle. After all, you would need to get them replaced every few years.
Not because they broke, or anything. I was actually just being a pouty brat. Most could easily go ten or more years before upgrading to the latest model. I am just a tech nerd that always wants the latest shit available.
This is all to say, that Krul had set up our drones to perform surgeries and installations of PCs anywhere and everywhere. Yes. All just for my own convience. I guess my wives and mothers benefited from the change as well.
Marinkia: “Let’s go to the roof.” I suggest.
Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.
Ava: “Huh?… Oh, okay.” She agreed.
The front entrance of the cafe was still covered in redeaded zombie corpses, so we had to go to the roof for more reasons than just one. The main reasons being… ordering a PC for Ava and a weapon for her too.
Marinkia: “Soon, a drone will be here to install a PC for you. There will be a surgery, but it will be painless. Also, I will order you a weapon.” I inform.
Ava: “Wow! I want a Katana just like yours!” She said, unprompted.
Marinkia: “Alright.” I agree.
Some Waiting Later.
Even without the map data, the drones all showed up at the roof of the cafe. And in amazing time. It didn’t take long for Ava to get her PC installed, though I had to teach her how to use it. Being born in a farm, she only saw people use them from movies, TV shows, etc.
Ava: “…Will you teach me how to use this?” She asked after unsheathing her new Katana.
Marinkia: “That isn’t required. We have skills and knowledge passed down from Krul. Fighting will be as natural as breathing for you from now on.” I explain.
Ava: “What an overpowered race… No wonder humanity failed to defeat us. What foolish creatures…” She said with a laugh.
Marinkia: “Yes, yes. You’re now oddly racist against humans. If you don’t like it, don’t worry. Such feelings go away after a while, and you will then only feel numb to them.” I inform.
Ava: “Oh… So I wasn’t just a hidden racist, huh? That’s good to know. I was worried for a second there.” She said with a relieved tone.
With a laugh, I pulled Ava close to me and took a selfie. In the past, such a word was first used for when you take a picture of yourself. But it slowly became just for taking pictures of people in general. I have no idea why I just randomly decided to think about this…
Anyway, I sent the picture to our group chat, with the caption, “Me and my new daughter!” to which everyone responded in various interesting ways. Enough to make me chuckle a few times. Anna tried calling me not long after that, which meant that Krul snitched to her. I’ll just ignore the research mad woman for a while…
Ava: “A selfie?” She said with a confused tone.
Marinkia: “Yeah. I sent it to my parents and my wives. Don’t worry, they’re very good people and they will surely love you dearly.” I reply.
Ava: “Will they really accept me? I was a human just yesterday…” She said with a nervous tone.
Marinkia: “I was also a human many years ago, don’t worry. Besides the origin of our race, Krul, everyone was originally a human. Now that you’re one of us, no one will treat you badly. I swear.” I say with a reassuring tone.
Ava: “It’s just so unbelievable…” She replied.
Marinkia: “I know. My becoming what I am today, was also unbelievable. One of the big differences between humans and Numens, is that when we feel something, we don’t hide or run away from it. I had a very small feeling that I wanted you as my daughter, so I adopted you. That’s just how our kind works.” I explain.
Ava: “Really? That’s kinda romantic…” She said with a wistful tone.
Marinkia: “Yes, it is. And when you met the woman that you will spend eternity with, it will also be something that happens instantly.” I reply with a laugh.
Ava: “Wow… even more romantic!” She happily exclaimed.
Heh… my daughter sure is cute. Tired of hearing me say this? My wives are cute too. My daughter is also cute. Am I insane? No. I just like praising my family. If you get annoyed… fuck you? Anyway, my daughter is sooo cute!
Ava: “I am a lesbian, but how did you know that I would end up with a woman?” She asked with a curious tone.
Marinkia: “Only mates can be male or female. Your wife will end up being a hunter, or one of our new species. Which will only ever be female.” I answer.
Ava: “…Does Krul hate men?” She asked with a thinking pose.
Marinkia: “I don’t know. I have never asked her.” I reply with a shrug.
Ava: “…”
Marinkia: “I’ll ask her sometime later. For now, we have to start moving again. Now that you’re a Numen, you won’t have to rest so much. And… you will be able to help me kill that queen.” I say with a proud tone.
Ava: “Right!” She said with a nod.
Jumping off the building, I waited for Ava to do the same. She wouldn’t jump until I reassured her that our kind could easily survive jumping off of a skyscraper. With ease, Ava jumped off of the building like she just did a little step. Her only response was, “Wow…” and then we went on our merry way. Oh, this mother and daughter bonding time is going to be so damn fun!
