Chapter 5: This… isn’t what I expected.

(Marinkia’s POV)

Much to my utter annoyance, Mercedes didn’t take me to some hidden zombie base of hers. Where did she take me? Back to the same damn apartment building that I just scaled down not that long ago…

Mercedes: “What’s wrong, Marinkia?” She asked with a concerned tone.

Marinkia: “Ah… nothing much. Just that… I live here. In fact, I just escaped from this place not that long ago.” I answer with a sigh.

Mercedes: “That so? How funny.” She said with a giggle.

Oddly, with her laughing about it, I wasn’t upset anymore. But, damn… I really am shitty at surviving. I didn’t even last an hour or two after leaving this place. I legit got caught by the undead, not that long into my exploration…

Going inside, well… Mercedes’s zombies went inside first. As for us, we walked behind them. Her zombies would either tear apart, or bite the undead that came to attack us. When bitten, they seem to join our group.

Wow… this is totally like a novel that I read before… Not bothering to mention this to the woman herself, I guided her back to my room. The elevator was filled with undead, but it wasn’t anything that Mercedes’s group couldn’t deal with.

As such, we took a short elevator ride up. Accompanied by a few undead. At the door to my apartment, I used my specific key code to unlock it. Trying to open it up, only now did I recall that I had blocked the door from the inside…

Mercedes: “Oh? Not going to invite me in to your home? How rude.” She said with a joking pout.

Marinkia: “No, no… I just remembered that I blocked the door to prevent zombies from breaking in.” I quickly reply.

Mercedes: “What about the next-door apartment?” She asked.

Marinkia: “The one on the left… I have no idea, but the one on the right is just locked.” I answer.

Mercedes: “Okay.” She replied.

Before I could ask what she was going to do, she went over to Mai’s room and kicked the door open. Sorry about your door, Mai… Then, she went inside her apartment, and onto the balcony. Soon, she opened the door for me.

Mercedes: “That was pretty easy, if I am being honest.” She said with a giggle.

Marinkia: “…”

Going inside, I saw that the shelf and couch that I used to block the door was set aside. Was she actually really, really strong, or something? Like, just like in those novels?…

Mercedes: “We should be fine, but I should still block the door once again.” She said, picking up the shelf and effortlessly putting it back where I left it.

She did the same with the couch. Look, I am a decently fit and strong person, but no way in hell can I lift up that couch above my head with such ease like Mercedes just displayed. Ah, so she is strong. Good to know…

Mercedes: “Are you hungry?” She asked.

Marinkia: “Somewhat? I think I lost a decent bit of blood from that bite of yours.” I reply.

Mercedes: “There are some old food stores that still sell real food around this area, do you want me to go get you some?” She proposed.

Marinkia: “It’s fine. I had made some super food and super water before Grant turned off everything.” I deny with a smile.

Mercedes: “Really? That’s great! Can I have some?” She asked.

Marinkia: “Sure.” I agree without any hesitation.

As they were super, we only took one each. From looking at Mercedes, I have no idea if she eats human flesh or not. I guess that it doesn’t really matter? I still have no real idea why she is protecting me, and why she bit me.

Mercedes: “Can we cuddle on your bed?” She asked with a seductive tone.

Marinkia: “…”

Mercedes: “I swear that I won’t do anything sexual. I just want to hold you.” She said with a reassuring tone.

Marinkia: “Why do you want to hold me?” I ask with a head tilt.

Mercedes: “That… Like I said, I will explain it if you survive. Even if you don’t survive, please allow me to be selfish and cuddle with you just once.” She practically pleaded.

It wasn’t really pleading, though. It was far more like she was trying to seduce me. This woman, Mercedes, she was a major top. Which is bad, as I am a major bottom. How much of a bottom was I?

Well, before I even noticed it, I was already cuddling in bed with her… She had her back to the back of the bed, holding me in her arms. Only now, as I wasn’t really a pervert, did I realize that Mercedes had pretty big breasts.

Marinkia: “…”

I was completely relaxed with my head lying on her breasts. It was so calming. I wouldn’t be surprised if this woman had secretly drugged me in some way. Should I really be this comfortable with a stranger?

Mercedes: “Go to sleep, Marinkia. In this new world, you need all the rest that you can get.” She advised.

Marinkia: “Will… will we know if your bite will work in the morning?” I nervously ask.

Mercedes: “No. At least, I think that we won’t know?” She denied.

Marinkia: “…”

Mercedes: “…”

Marinkia: “Why are you so uncertain about this?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.

Mercedes: “It was an instinct to mark you. I instinctually knew what will possibly happen if I did, but I also knew that the answer would take different times for everyone to finally reveal itself.” She explained.

Marinkia: “Oh…” I say with a sigh.

Mercedes: “How about this? If you end up turning into a mindless zombie, then I will eat you.” She proposed.

Marinkia: “Eat me? I would prefer you to kill me and then bury my body.” I reply with a laugh.

Mercedes: “Nope. If you turn, I will just eat you. That isn’t something that I am willing to let up on.” She said with a pout.

Marinkia: “…Okay, thanks.” I agree, since there really wasn’t any reason not to.

Mercedes: “Good, good. Now then, please go to sleep.” She said with a smile while softly rubbing my head.

This felt so nice… With such treatment, it wouldn’t take long at all for me to fall asleep. Damn… now she is even humming me a lullaby. I can’t keep my eyes open any longer. Oh, well. Whatever happens while I am asleep will just happen. After all, I am not the one in control right now.
