Chapter 45: Mother Daughter Exploring.
(Clare’s POV)
We had come to exactly where Kia mentioned earlier. Opening up the manhole, Kia went inside first. Much to my shock, as I fully expected that I would be going first…
Kia: “Holy shit!” She exclaimed.
Quickly, I rushed down the sewer entrance to reach my daughter. Once reaching her, I searched her all over, but found nothing wrong. Looking around, I saw the bodies of various humans.
Was she shocked by the bodies? But that wouldn’t make sense. Kia has proven that she doesn’t care about humans at all. Ah, and the reason for my rush is due to the fact that Kia rarely ever curses or shouts.
Clare: “What happened, Kia?” I ask.
Kia: “Oh, nothing. Seeing these bodies, I just realized something that I hadn’t thought about until now.” She replied with an unbothered tone and expression.
Berna: “What did you realize?” She asked in my stead.
Kia: “At the estate, have I been eating humans this entire time?” She replied.
Clare: “…”
Berna: “…”
At her question, Bern and I burst out into laughter. Even the terrible condition of this sewer wasn’t enough to stop us from laughing about this.
Kia: “?”
Berna: “Marinkia, mates do not eat humans. Only the non mates of our kind do so. And even then, we only eat humans every once a month or so.” She explained.
Kia: “So it really is vampire rules? What the heck.” She replied with a giggle.
Vampire rules? Ah, that was something that Krul did… Oh, well. That is just something that I am sure Krul would love to explain to our daughter. Now then, I shall explore these sewers with my daughter!
Some Time Later.
Clare: “…”
Kia: “Mom? What’s wrong?” She asked with a concerned tone.
Clare: “Nothing, nothing. Just a little tired.” I reply.
Kia: “Should we give up for now?” She suggested.
Clare: “No, I just had a long day at work yesterday. We can keep going.” I deny.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Kia: “Okay.” She said with a smile.
Looking at Berna, she was also conflicted. Does this really count as me hunting with my daughter? Kia would kill any undead that appeared before us. And faster than I or Berna could kill them.
Kia: “That’s a new one.” She exclaimed with a whistle.
Clare: “…”
Berna: “…”
Why was he here!? That is an undead that even Krul advises everyone to avoid. Even without having glowing eyes at all, this undead was terrifying. Originally, it was an experiment by Grant.
Krul found it, and she decided to do her own experiment with it. This turned out to be a bad idea. The undead looked to basically be a human, but he was clearly a mix between Grant’s abominations and our undead.
The strength of our kind, mixed with the undying of the undead. It wasn’t a good thing to fight at all.
Clare: “Kia… we need to…” I stopped my words.
Before I could convince Kia to run away, she lunged after the undead with her Katana. The undead, somehow fielding a sword as well, blocked her attack. Pushing away her Katana, he tried to punch Kia.
But Kia also blocked the attack with her Katana. She was sent flying into the walls of the sewer. Rushing up to her, I saw her spit up blood, but she was mostly fine.
Kia: “Oh, this one is pretty strong.” She said with an excited tone.
Once again rushing to that undead, she kept fighting him. Both Berna and I were too confused to stop her, or join in on the fight. Kia mentioned this before, but we thought that she was just confused.
Right now, Kia’s eyes were glowing golden. This isn’t something that a mate is supposed to be able to do. And with those eyes, it seems that Kia’s strength and speed increased greatly, her skills even sharper.
Slash!
In a battle that lasted just a few minutes, Kia had slain that zombie. Krul had been looking for this zombie for a long time, at least for over 30 years. But it knew how to avoid her like the plague.
And here Kia was, able to kill an undead that Krul warned us about, a monster that had killed at least five of our kind before. It was now time to admit that Kia was stronger and faster than me.
Perhaps only Berna or Krul could be her match. Why does she even have this power? Mercedes, though being another trusted person of Krul, wasn’t anything that special. And Neither was Mai. How much of Krul’s virus and DNA did she receive?…
Kia: “Hmph! That wasn’t as fun as I hope it would be.” She said with a pout.
Clare: “…”
Why is Kia like a younger version of Krul? No, really. Now that I think about it, both she and Krul are very, very similar people. Was that due to Krul’s DNA, or just how Kia is? It is honestly hard to say.
Kia: “Are we not continuing?” She asked.
Clare: “No, no. We were just looking at that weird zombie for a small bit.” I reply.
Kia: “It was pretty weird. A shame that it was so damn weak, though.” She said with a sigh.
Seeing Kia drenched in blood was weird. This time, I knew that she didn’t get hurt at all. Well, besides being slammed into the wall, that is. Though she looked fine now.
Clare: “Are you okay?” I ask with a concerned tone.
Kia: “I am fine. When my eyes glow like this, I am stronger, faster, and I heal very quickly.” She replied with a confident tone.
She heals faster? That’s something that only Krul does… Anna would just love to do studies on Kia. Wait… didn’t she give her blood to Anna? Thinking this, I had Berna and Kia go on ahead.
Anna: “Yeah, she gave a lot of her blood.” She answered after I called her on my PC and asked her about Kia.
Clare: “What did you find out about her?” I ask.
Anna: “Keep this a secret, as I haven’t even told it to Krul yet. You see… Fifty percent of Marinkia’s DNA is a match for Krul’s. But, to understand what this means, I need far more time.” She explained.
Clare: “…Okay, thanks.” I say with a sigh after hanging up the call.
Fifty percent of her DNA? Doesn’t that mean Kia is practically a clone of Krul? This is confusing. What will happen to my daughter? Will she ever actually evolve, or has she already evolved?
No. Her hair is still in the process of turning gold. Her eyes are already gold, though. No mates will ever have their hair or eye color change. And gold isn’t a color that any other of our kind has ever had. I think that Krul might really like this daughter of ours…
