Chapter 36: A Drive.

Chapter 36: A Drive.

(Marinkia’s POV)

Man… Most of these games really suck. Rather than games, they more seem to be made just to get more and more of your money. Even Grant, that asshole of leader, banned most ads like these.

And any product that was unhealthy, or existed just to extort money out of you via physiological methods, was all banned by him. Not even that bastard thought that these methods were okay.

But, I knew that this era had these kind of games in an abundance. No wonder the gaming market crashed in the 2030s… Speaking of which, I wonder why this city is like this? It is kinda weird.

Clare: “Sorry for taking so long. We can head home now.” She said after getting up from her chair.

Looking at the time on my phone, it was 2:30 AM. Wow… who knew that it was possible to waste so much time while playing mobile games? I hardly even noticed the time go by…

Going down Clare’s private elevator, we went back to her private parking lot that I forgot to mention earlier. Much to the rich CEO OL that she presents herself as, the woman had many cars of hers in the lot.

Clare: “As a treat, I will let you pick any car for us to go home in.” She informed.

Marinkia: “Okay.” I reply.

Unfortunately, most of the cars were boring, but were clearly luxury cars. Though that just meant that they didn’t stick out at all. And, none of the cars were of any design that I knew of. This place has original games and products? That’s even weirder.

With a sigh, I walked up and picked a nice looking SUV. Looking back at Clare, she had an interesting look on her face. What the heck?

Clare: “That one is for special use only.” She said with a giggle.

She gestured for me to open up the passenger door to look inside the SUV, and I quickly shut it back. Inside were many things used for sex within the car. Who the hell has sex while driving!? No, wait… Do you just park it on a random spot and then have sex?…

Clare: “Just so you know, I have a few other vehicles like this one that I primarily use for sexual escapades.” She said with an oddly proud tone.

Marinkia: “…Just please let’s go in one that isn’t used for sex. You chose.” I say with a sigh.

Clare: “Jokes on you, Marinkia. I have had sex with women in all of these vehicles already.” She gloated.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Marinkia: “…”

How the hell does she sleep around so much and not get caught doing so? She must know of the right ways to not been seen by anyone with a camera and the thirst for an interesting story…

In the end, we went with the car that we came here in. Much to Clare’s annoyance, she hadn’t slept with a woman in this car yet, as it was brand new. Much to my relief. I wasn’t a prude, but I might be a germaphobe.

Marinkia: “This place confuses me, Clare.” I say with a sigh.

Clare: “This place is an illusion. Mainly an illusion for the humans. For us, it is a fun place to do basically whatever we want. It is actually rare for our kind to have sexual relations with humans.” She replied.

Marinkia: “I mean, that does make sense. Why would you have sex with your food?” I reply.

Clare: “Yeah. And that is the point. This place is stuck in an old time period, old enough to where we can exploit it, and experience a different kind of world. It is for fun, we commit various taboos here.” She continued.

Marinkia: “Hey… I sat on your lap earlier… I would like my reward now.” I say with a pout.

Clare: “Reward? Ah, I didn’t think of one.” She lied.

Goddammit! Now she wants to play a game with me? First she forces me to stay with her, and then she bribes me to sit on her lap. And now, she refuses to pay for my services!? Why did I accidentally make myself to sound like a prostitute?…

Marinkia: “Didn’t you say that you were going to tell me a secret?” I reply.

Clare: “I lied.” She admitted outright.

Marinkia: “…”

Clare: “I needed to get your help with Faye. Saying any real secret would be a crime for my people. Instead, if you survive the change, find me and I will tell you a secret of ours.” She explained.

Marinkia: “Change this, change that! All you Numens keep giving me the run away, refusing to tell me shit. Even while getting my help, or using me like a tool…” I say with a sad tone.

Drip!

Oh… I was crying? I didn’t realize that I felt so bad about this… To me, I am already a Numen. But to the Numens, I am just a half human that isn’t worth shit. But of course, they’re still willing to use me.

Clare: “Zombies can speak, Marinkia. Surely you have come across ones like that.” She said.

Marinkia: “I have…” I reply, trying to dry up my tears.

Clare: “Good. Now I am sorry that I’ve hurt your feelings, and that you feel like we don’t care or respect you at all. But even the normal undead, our people can read all of their memories.” She continued to explain.

Marinkia: “…”

Clare: “Please understand that you already know far too much. If you instead turn into an undead, and somehow escape us before we can kill you, our many secrets could be revealed.” She said with a warm tone.

Marinkia: “Oh…” I reply with an understanding nod.

Clare: “You’re a very interesting girl, Marinkia. And I truly hope that you do survive. Mates are actually quite rare in our people. Most humans do not survive being marked.” She said with a sigh.

Marinkia: “Is my chances really that low? I can even use Numen powers from time to time.” I ask with a nervous tone.

Clare: “Just because you can use our abilities doesn’t mean that you will survive. Not at all. Here is something that isn’t a big secret. The Population of our race is in the hundreds of millions. But the population of mates is just a few million.” She informed.

Marinkia: “Is… is that why mates are so protected?” I ask with a head tilt.

Clare: “Yeah, that is one of the reasons. Before you ask, “mates” doesn’t refer to people that produce offspring. We cannot have children. A mate to us is just a lifelong partner.” She clarified.

Marinkia: “I see…” I reply.

Once again, all this shit is far more complicated than I thought that it would be. This current situation was confusing enough. Humans acting like the year was 2020 something, and even more weird stuff.

Why did Faye think that threatening me with a handgun, while I have all of my weapons on me, would be a good idea like, at all? Maybe the Numens had really good brainwashing technology…
