Chapter 38: A Bored Girl is a sad Girl.
(Marinkia’s POV)
Currently, it has been over two weeks since I’ve arrived at Clare’s estate. During that time, I did very important work. That is, reconnecting with my lazy little girl side.
That didn’t mean that I wasn’t doing anything important. Okay, that’s a lie… I have done literally nothing this entire damn time… No, really.
I mean, unless you want to count me playing every mobile game available as an achievement, all I have done is just that. But to be fair, I didn’t really have much else to do.
After all, I am not that active as I have been preaching. In reality, I just go out once every week or two. For most people, that is unheard of it. That is, for my old people, before their world ended.
Marinkia: “Am I lazy?” I say with a sigh.
Maid A: “Lazy? Marinkia, as a mate, it is your right to live as you please.” She denied.
Marinkia: “Really?” I ask.
Maid B: “For a mate, you’re very active. Honestly, and don’t tell my wife this, but I wish that she was as active as you are, Marinkia.” She said with a wistful tone.
Marinkia: “How am I active? I just spend my entire day inside this estate…” I reply with a confused tone.
Maid A: “You spend your day here, but you do various things. Such as swimming, playing board games with us, using arcade machines, etc.” She replied.
Marinkia: “And what is special about that?” I say with a head tilt.
Maid B: “Please don’t do those head tilts… Seeing you do them makes me feel like betraying my wife.” She pleaded.
Marinkia: “…”
Maid A: “Most mates just sleep all day, Marinkia. On average, I talk to my wife once a month. And that’s not because we don’t love each other.” She explained, us both using to ignore the other maid’s weird comment.
What? Why are mates like that? Please don’t tell me that I will lose my active side once I evolve…
Marinkia: “Are all mates just sleepy girls?” I ask.
Maid A: “Sleepy girls? That is one way to put it. Keep in mind, our mates can be male as well.” She replied.
Marinkia: “Really? I honestly thought that all Numens were lesbians.” I say with one of my hands on my chin.
Maid B: “Well… I guess that we are?” She said with a thinking pose.

Marinkia: “What do you mean?” I reply.
Maid A: “Male mates are dressed up like females. It just so happens that all Numens prefer females, but some like male genitalia. And until Anna comes up with a method to give a woman such genitalia, some of us will continue to have male mates.” She explained.
Heh… the only reason this world is dominated by women is because of male genitalia? Then again, I kinda wonder why most of the Numens are lesbians? I would have to guess that it is due to Krul being a lesbian…
Some Time Later.
Clare?: “Marinkia, do you want to go somewhere with me today?” She asked with a smile.
The maids looked at the “Clare” in front of us, and then looked at me. This woman clearly wasn’t Clare, but a very good looking fake. This was even more evident as this “Clare” was missing her red eyes.
At home, Numens do not bother to hide their glowing eyes. Yes, this means that if you walked around in the middle of the night, you could end up seeing red eyes down or in a hallway. It would just be a maid, though.
Maid A: “This isn’t Clare, Marinkia.” She whispered in my ear.
Marinkia: “I know… Who the heck is she?” I reply in a quiet tone.
Maid A: “Let me check…” She replied.
Staring at the woman, the maid flashed her red eyes, which glowed as bright as she could make them glow. The woman who was pretending to be Clare had turned into a doll-like state. With empty eyes and all. Creepy…
Maid A: “Who are you?” She asked.
Clare?: “I am Faye Maticula.” She answered in a monotone voice, not showing any emotion on her face at all.
Marinkia: “But… how? She looks like a complete replica of Clare…” I say with a confused tone.
At my question, I heard a ring on my smartphone. The one calling me just so happened to be Clare. And I mean the real Clare. Not this fake one, who was actually Faye in disguise.
Clare: “Marinkia, be careful. Faye has disguised herself as me, and went to the estate.” She said with a hurried tone.
Marinkia: “I know, we already caught her.” I reply with an unbothered tone.
Clare: “…”
Marinkia: “What happened?” I ask.
Clare: “That bitch… She had some humans come to kill me. Her plan was clearly to replace me so that she could gain all of my assets and power.” She explained with an angry tone.
Marinkia: “She got surgery to look like you, just because Faye knew that she couldn’t seduce you?” I reply with an unsure tone.
Clare: “That’s exactly what it seems, Marinkia. How silly…” She said with a sigh.
Marinkia: “What do we do now? Did you kill those who were sent to assassinate you?” I ask with a nervous tone.
Clare: “No. Self defense is allowed by Krul, but I didn’t need to kill them in this case. Mind control was the better option in this regard.” She answered.
Marinkia: “I agree.” I reply.
Clare: “And Faye? What happened to her?” She asked.
Marinkia: “One of the maids has her in a trance right now.” I answer.
Clare: “Good. I will be there soon.” She said before hanging up the call.
It took only an hour for Clare to get back to her estate. When she entered the room, she looked me all over to make sure that I was okay. During the time that I’ve stayed at this estate, it seemed that Clare has adopted me as her daughter, or something along those lines. Not that I minded.
Clare: “This… This is very extreme.” She said with a disgusted tone.
Maid A: “So much surgery… It would take even more to return her original appearance.” She said with a thinking pose.
Clare: “We shouldn’t kill her, either… Fuck it. I am sure that Krul will agree with me.” She said with a sigh.
Marinkia: “What’s the plan?” I ask.
Clare: “Send Faye to a doctor to get her original appearance back, and then mind control Faye and her family.” She replied.
Marinkia: “Hm… that should work.” I say with a thumbs up.
Due to this crazy idea by Faye, Clare’s grand plan to undo her wasn’t needed anymore. What Faye had done was enough for Clare to be permitted to control Faye and her family.
With this, I no longer had to pretend to be Clare’s girlfriend, and nor did we have to care about Faye being a general nuisance to us. See? Aren’t I amazing!? I just stayed inside all this time, but I’ve successfully dealt with Clare’s problem like an absolute pro! God, I am going to be such an amazing mate to my wives! Why does that sound wrong?…
