Chapter 26: Exploring Some More.
(Marinkia’s POV)
Special Tall Zombie: “Are you insane!?” He exclaimed.
Marinkia: “Debatable?” I reply with a shrug.
That same special tall zombie that I met last night, the one with the unique glowing eyes, popped up again. The sun was still out. As for the dude himself, he was speaking to me using a manhole cover as uh… cover from the sun.
Yes, I was talking to a sewer zombie…
Special Tall Zombie: “Look, that thing is an absolute monster. And that is coming from me, a literal fucking creepy special zombie!” He said with a serious tone.
Marinkia: “What even is it?” I ask with a curious tone.
Special Tall Zombie: “I have no idea… It has been here longer than me. All I know, is that it lives deep underground. Even better, is that it produces human meat for us to eat.” He explained.
Marinkia: “It’s willing to give a free meal to you all?” I reply with a raised eyebrow.
Special Tall Zombie: “I know, I know, it’s weird. I do not know its endgame, or why it feeds us. What I do know, is that it doesn’t like anyone, or anything, to be above it.” He replied.
Marinkia: “Yeah, I can see that now.” I say with a laugh.
Special Tall Zombie: “You’re very weird, girl…” He said with a laugh of his own.
Marinkia: “I am not a weird girl! I am just a bored one…” I say with a pout.
Special Tall Zombie: “Bored!? This is the literal end of the world, you know?… Anyway, go the opposite way from here, and you will be in a different special undead turf.” He advised, before going back into the sewers.
Following his directions, I kept walking some more. Surely, I will find something interesting that isn’t a zombie the size of an entire city, right? Please, please don’t be a Numen…
On the Other Side of the Turf Now.
I found yet another dividing line. When stepping over it, and as it was still very much daytime, I didn’t hear any roars or howls. That’s good. At least I know that the sewer monster had, or rather, that thing has a limit to its size.
This side was… melty? No, really. There are many things that seemed to be melted. That went for the small fry zombies, and the buildings or any other things around this area.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Was this a turf of a special breed that spits out acid? I honestly feel like I am playing a game at the moment… While exploring, I realized something kinda bad… There weren’t any outposts at all.
Which would make sense. If they can spit acid, they could easily destroy the UV lights without getting exposure to the harmful rays. So… this is a fully zombie controlled area, huh?
Hiss!
Dodging to the left, I witnessed a large green blob passed by me. It landed on a lamppost, easily melting it within seconds. It was still daytime!!! Looking around, I say a zombie with a big head hiding inside a building, looking at me.
Marinkia: “Really!? You’re going to attack me while you stay in safety? You little bitch…” I say with an annoyed tone.
Spitter Zombie: “Haha, you dumb bitch! You actually managed to dodge that attack!? How funny!” He heartedly laughed.
Marinkia: “You can talk?” I reply.
This zombie had blue eyes, but was of a darker blue than usual. He also spoke in coherent English. So… was this the color that their eyes glowed before they get yellow eyes like Axel? If Anna was here, she would be extremely happy. So many things to research about…
Spitter Zombie: “I can, but does it matter? Can’t you see that I am now some disgusting zombie?” He said with an angry tone.
Marinkia: “I’ve seen worse, buddy.” I reply with a shrug.
Spitter Zombie: “Hmph!… Look, go that direction to get out of this turf. Literally no humans survive here, and the undead have to practice double cannibalism.” He said, pointing out a direction.
Double cannibalism? That can’t be good… Following the words of the zombie that I didn’t really trust, I started walking. Like with him, there were other spitter zombies that did the same trick.
Of course, I more easily dodged their attacks. After all, they didn’t have any intelligence. At least, not compared to that one that I met earlier. Soon, I came across yet another dividing line.
This was just the other ones. Though, not that far away from the line, I saw another settlement. And the sun was beginning to set. As such, I decided to cross and make my way over to that settlement before it got dark out.
A Small Walk and Murder Spree Later.
As expected, the settlement was inhabited by a few hundred of those weird humans. Killing them all was very easy, and if I was okay with touching such filthy bodies, I would try to make another offering to whatever species this turf is.
The nighttime came, and I caught a glimpse of the special zombies in this area. They were… frankly speaking, these undead were nightmare fuel…
Coming out of sewers or from buildings, extremely lanky undead appeared in the night. This is where yet another problem occurred… The undead saw that I had killed all those in the outpost.
The problem was that, with their very lanky arms that probably stretch 12 to 17 feet long, they could easily reach over the walls of the settlement. Not caring about getting burned on their thin arms, they tried to turn off the generator or unplug the UV lights.
Slash!
Going around as fast as I could, I cut off their arms to stop them from ruining my chance at a good night’s sleep. And this did work for a decent while, but they got angry.
A blue eyed one showed up, and commanded the rest of the special zombies. Soon, five of them rushed into the settlement, seemingly being sacrifices to the horde. Not even caring that their bodies were burning and smoking… Survival of this fittest, huh?…
Smash!
Unfortunately, though I killed four of them, one of them played dead and snuck behind me. I only noticed as I heard a smashing sound from behind me, as my main focus was on the rest of the zombies.
With the power now cut off, the UV lights slowly shut off. Then, the lanky zombies all rushed into the settlement. With an odd grin on my face, I prepared to fight all night with these special zombies. This might be fun!
