Chapter 60: A Fight Too…Forget.
(Marinkia’s POV)
I greatly applaud the windows and the walls of this cafe. They easily held back the horde of undead, not even leaving scratches. Was this place own by some very rich person? Why are the windows seemingly bulletproof?…
Marinkia: “Well… I guess we have time.” I say with a thinking pose.
Ava: “Time for what?” She asked.
Marinkia: “Presenteth thy neck to me, oh daught'r of mineth.” I jokingly order.
Ava: “…Do all of your people talk like that?” She replied with a nervous tone.
Marinkia: “No. I am just weird sometimes.” I reply with a shrug.
Ava: “Ah…” She replied with a deadpan expression.
With a chuckle, Ava presented her neck to me. Which I quickly covered up with my hands.
Marinkia: “Don’t do that!” I exclaim.
Ava: “Why not? Don’t you need to bite me?” She replied with a head tilt.
Marinkia: “Yes, but I only need to bite your body, not your neck. I will bite your arm.” I answer.
Ava: “Oh, I see. Is there something wrong with what I did?…” She asked with a curious tone.
Marinkia: “It was very inappropriate.” I reply.
Ava: “How so? All I did was show you my neck…” She replied.
Marinkia: “Vampire rules, dear. You just did the equivalent of showing me your vagina for our species. Even now, my wives plead with me to wear a scarf, or anything to hide my neck.” I explain with a lecturing tone.
Ava: “…”
The girl was quiet at my words. Which was good, as I needed to mark her now. I didn’t wish to hurt her, so Ava being calm was very good for this situation. I feel like I just repeated myself, but I was very nervous so it is hard to say for sure…
Bite.
The taste of human blood wasn’t anything that I liked, apparently. It would seem that, by complete accident, I ended up as a new species of Numen that doesn’t eat humans. How odd…
After keeping her arm in my mouth for a bit, I then let go. Taking out the medical supplies from my backpack, I treated her bite wound. All during this time, zombies outside banged on the door. The atmosphere was odd.
Ava: “How long will it take until I turn?” She asked.
Marinkia: “It is random, sorry. Did it, or does it still hurt?” I ask.
Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.
Ava: “It didn’t hurt at all, actually. It felt pleasurable, oddly.” She answered with a slightly embarrassed tone.
Marinkia: “That’s to be expected. When you meet a woman you love, you will probably love for them to bite you whenever they can.” I say with a laugh.
Ava: “…”
Marinkia: “Now, be a good girl and wait for me to kill these zombies, okay?” I propose.
Ava: “Good girl… Don’t call me that!” She yelled.
Marinkia: “Why not?” I reply with a head tilt.
Ava: “I have a fetish for a hot milf calling me like that…” She admitted with a red face.
Marinkia: “I am not a hot milf, though?” I say with a cheeky tone.
Ava: “…”
Marinkia: “Don’t feel ashamed. All mates tend to be bottoms, and that is still the case, even for our new species.” I say with a warm tone while rubbing her head.
With my new daughter consoled, I went to the backroom of the cafe. I wasn’t stupid enough to open up the front door. Instead, I decided to go to the roof and jump down from it. Once up on the roof, I saw that there were over a few hundred worthless zombies surrounding us.
Picking up four 4x4 wood pallets, I used them to block the hatch to inside the cafe. I didn’t want anything to get inside and attack my daughter, after all. When I was done, I jumped down from the building, and I starting killing the zombies.
Lots of Killing Later.
The bodies of my worthless enemies were strewn about on the ground. I didn’t feel good about it, though. It wasn’t like they gave me any challenge at all. Instead, it was mainly just an hour long distraction… Oh, shit… is Ava alright!?
Looking into the cafe, Ava waved at me with a smile. Of course she was alright. If this was some shitty novel, Ava would have been kidnapped while I was busy. All just to lazily move the plot along.
As for the one that controlled these zombies… I think that I killed him? I can’t recall fully. I remember killing an undead with glowing yellow eyes, but he was honestly weaker than the normal zombies were.
Drop!
Some rain landed on my head and shoulders. If it was eighty years ago, this would be nice. But it very rarely ever rains on earth anymore. And when it does rain, the water is toxic, sometimes even acidic…
Quickly, I made my way back inside the cafe through the roof. I took a random piece of cloth that I found on the ground, and used it to dry myself, then I took off all of my clothes before returning to where Ava was.
Ava: “Welcome back! Good job on killing those… AH! Why are you naked!?” She exclaimed in shock, covering her eyes with her hands.
Heh. What a funny reaction. My daughter sure is cute!
Marinkia: “I needed to.” I answer before walking over to my backpack.
Taking out a new set of lingerie and a dress, I then put them all on. I wasn’t naked anymore, so Ava finally removed her hands that she was using to cover her eyes.
Ava: “I get that you were covered in blood, but couldn’t you have done that in the bathroom, or something?” She asked with a sigh.
Marinkia: “I wasn’t worried about the blood, Ava.” I reply.
Ava: “Then why did you strip?” She replied with a head tilt.
Marinkia: “I stripped because I got rain on me.” I answer.
Ava: “Huh? Don’t tell me that our kind is weak to water…” She replied with a nervous tone.
Marinkia: “We aren’t weak to water, silly girl.” I say with a giggle, ruffling up her hair.
Ava: “Then…” She said, urging me to explain.
Marinkia: “Don’t you know that the rain water, as well as most other natural sources of water on earth, is toxic, and even sometimes acidic?” I explain.
Ava: “Really!?” She yelled in shock.
Marinkia: “Yes. Though it won’t do much to our kind, it will easily kill a human. Didn’t you learn anything in school?” I reply.
Ava: “No. I was born in the farm, I wasn’t taught anything. After all, why would you teach food?” She denied with a sad tone.
Marinkia: “…”
Ava: “Huh? Marinkia?…” She said with a confused tone.
Ava was confused as I pulled her into a hug. I mistreated her earlier, but that was because Ava was human at that time. I didn’t realize that she would end up as my daughter. It was a small sin, but I will make it up to Ava in time.
For some reason, Ava started to cry. I don’t know why she did, but I kept comforting her as she cried until she fell asleep. With the sounds of rain, it was a very soothing environment. Despite the abandoned city, that is. I carried the still sleeping Ava over to a seat, and then I laid down with her. Goodnight, Ava. My new daughter…
