Chapter 54: On the Road Again.

(Marinkia’s POV)

Thankfully, as my weapons were broken many years ago, Krul gifted me her Katana. She said that, if I die, she will work to retrieve it in my honor. And if I live, then I will get to keep it as my personal weapon.

The original red gleam was replaced with a golden one. I can only assume that Krul fully intended to let me inherit this Katana. After all, it was reforged to fit me perfectly.

Now, the Katana’s blade was far longer, being that of a normal length one. The handle was thicker, and longer as well. In fact, it would be hard for Krul to wield this weapon again. It no longer fits her child body.

Marinkia: “So dead…” I say to no one at all.

Currently, I was exploring a large, empty city. This was one of the cities from Grant’s early rule. Though, it was left to rot, just like most of the world was. It truly gave those special zombies a good place to build an empire.

There was a plan to end the district system and return to a more open world. But the problem was time and effort needed was immense. All of these old structures needed to be destroyed, and the land needed to be revived once more.

It is actually no wonder that those zombies were discovered. After all, we were researching which place would be best to start this plan. This is where things will get better.

Before going to space, Krul wishes to revive this land. According to her, there is very likely more of our kind on some other planets. Krul wasn’t the only progenitor. As for rather the others survived, we have no idea.

Walking around in this empty city, that looked to have been constructed somewhere in the 2010s, it was oddly a very peaceful and relaxing walk. Like before, the undead, despite being evolved, still hated the sunlight.

Sniff!

I, all of a sudden, smelled the smell of a human. Or rather, tons of humans! Rushing to where I sensed the smell, I arrived at a building that looked to be a warehouse. Did they keep humans here for food?

Kick!

Thud!

Kicking down the door, I saw various humans. Unlike those weird ones that Krul cultivated, these ones were intelligent, to a degree. And they weren’t shackled or restrained at all.

Marinkia: “…”

All in all, there were thirty males and one female. The girl looked to be in her early twenties, but that didn’t say much at all. She could easily be many years older than that, and she just stopped her aging a long time ago.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Slash!

Quickly, I killed all of the male humans. Why? Am I so cruel that I didn’t care about our livestock? Would I kick a cow or chicken if I was a human? No. The woman’s clothes were torn, the men were in the process of raping her. Despite not having much care for humans, I won’t just sit around and watch one get raped.

Ava: “Thank you… My name is Ava, what’s yours?” She asked.

Marinkia: “Marinkia. Here, I have some clean clothes and lingerie. Our builds are similar enough.” I reply, taking off my backpack, and handing her a new set of clothes to wear.

Again, I don’t have much love for humans, but I give them the bare minimum of respect. They were a race that I used to be, after all. As such, I turned around to let Ava take off her clothes, and replace them with mine.

A Short Dress up Later.

Ava: “Thanks for the clothes. They… they’re the best feeling clothes that I have ever worn.” She happily exclaimed.

Marinkia: “That’s expected. That outfit, well… not counting the lingerie, the dress alone would cost you 100,000 credits just to rent it out.” I reply.

Ava: “Credits? Tell me… is there a last bastion of humanity? If you use Credits, that means you have access to a PC…” She asked.

Marinkia: “No.” I deny.

Ava: “Then…” I stop her words.

Marinkia: “I am not a human, but a Numen. The same as the ones that keep and use you humans as livestock.” I say with a serious tone.

Ava: “…”

Marinkia: “Though, rest assured that I will not eat you. Our kind is split between hunters and mates. I am a mate, so I do not eat humans.” I say with a laugh.

The woman went through tons of different emotions in such a short period. It is funny that like the females of our kind, that includes mates, all can do various interesting reactions like this.

Ava: “That’s good.” She said with a smile.

Marinkia: “Is this a feral group?” I ask.

Ava: “Feral? Ah, I guess that we would be seen like that… Some zombies with glowing eyes took us from the farm. We managed to escape from their captivity. Though, I didn’t expect that they would try to rape me like this…” She explained.

Marinkia: “Do you know where their base is?” I ask with a curious tone.

Ava: “I…I can lead you to it. But I need something from you.” She replied.

Marinkia: “Asking something of me, rather than just doing what I asked you to do? You have a lot of nerve, girl.” I say with a giggle.

Ava: “…”

Marinkia: “Most of my kind would have instantly killed any human that did something even less than that. But luckily for you, I am far more lenient when it comes to humans. What do you want?” I reply.

Ava: “Can you safely take me back to the farm?” She asked.

Marinkia: “You want to go back?” I reply with a confused tone and expression.

Humans in those farms are prisoners to be eventually slaughtered, right? Why would she want to go back to it? Though, to be fair, I have never researched or visited any human farm…

Ava: “Why wouldn’t I want to go back? This place is a wasteland. At least in the farm, I have access to high quality food, all my needs are taken care of, and I have an endless amount of entertain to consume.” She replied like I was speaking crazy.

Marinkia: “Really? I’ll be honest, I have never researched or been to a human farm before.” I reply.

Ava: “Besides being slaughtered for meat, I want for nothing. And, there are many times where one of us was taken by your kind. Not as food, but to be made a mate.” She continued with a wistful tone.

Marinkia: “That is still a death sentence, partly.” I say with a sigh.

Ava: “Huh!?” She yelled in shock.

Marinkia: “The chance of becoming a mate after being marked by a Numen, is very low. Most of time, they just end up as zombies.” I reply.

Ava: “…”

Marinkia: “You see, there are hundreds of millions of hunters, but only a few million mates. There is a drastic lack of them in our society.” I explain.

Ava: “Well… even if I do get chosen by one of your kind, and I end up as a zombie. It is still far better than being turned into food.” She said with a tone of defeat.

Marinkia: “…”

Oops… I seem to have accidentally crushed her dreams. That wasn’t my intention at all. Why am I feeling bad for upsetting a human? Well… she does look very attractive. I highly doubt that she will end up as meat. Surely, a Numen wants to make such a pretty girl into a mate, right?…
