Chapter 24: Creepy Place…
(Marinkia’s POV)
Waking up… I was hanging on the side of a building’s railings. Calmly getting back on safe ground, I was shocked by what I saw around me…
Marinkia: “Where am I?…” I say in a quiet voice.
The darkness surrounded me, seemingly being endless and vast. The night was filled with the sounds of ungodly undead. Versions of which, due to me still using my Numen powers, I could see in the dark.
What the fuck? Did I just get teleported!? Did Grant really hide such an amazing technology from us? That bitch!! Now, where even am I? The place was older, that much I could tell.
The buildings, though still being sturdy, were of an old design. I could see a few special undead, few with glowing eyes, jumping from building to building. And… soon my Numen side disappeared once more. Leaving me blind in the night.
Marinkia: “…”
I felt a chill from behind me… Without any hesitation; I turned around and used my Katana to cut whatever was behind me at this moment. My blade got stuck in sturdy flesh…
Looking up at what I had just cut, I saw a large man, clearly a zombie. But one that had blue glowing eyes. The zombie was buff, and three heads taller than me. Its mouth was parted into five sections. Pretty ugly and scary…
Seemingly due to this being a very dangerous situation, I could see that my eyes were glowing gold once more. Evident by the gold glow that was reflected on my Katana. Using more force, I finished cutting the special undead in half.
Without waiting any longer, I impaled the still moving head. The head melted, and so did the rest of the body. The body now melted away, left a blue crystal in its place to which I quickly pocketed. Unlike the ones I’ve seen before, this one is slightly glowing with a blue light.
Roar!
Now being able to see, I saw many more of these same zombies, though without glowing eyes, all coming towards me. Did I end up in some creepy nest of these undead? Why did the Numens let this go unchecked?…
Marinkia: “UV… light?” I say, looking in the distance.
I saw a settlement that seemingly had UV lights set up all around it. Somehow, I was able to jump from building to building, and escape the zombies running after me. Though, they were still on my trail…
An Exciting Run Later.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Making it to the settlement, I was happy to see that those special zombies didn’t follow me inside, and backed off looking angry. Nor did the normal ones, either. Luckily, the Numens aren’t weak to the sun or UV light like the undead are.
The special zombies seemed to be far more sensitive, the normal ones just looked slightly annoyed from the UV light, and stayed away from it. Inside the settlement, I saw another shocking sight…
Man: “…”
The man, speaking no coherent words that I could make out, it was mostly grunts, pointed his spear at me. What’s with me and having spears planted in my face? Regardless… the rest of the humans in this place did the same.
All of them didn’t look to have any real intelligence at all. It was like they were cavemen, but looked like modern humans. Is… is this a special hunting ground for the Numens?
Slash!
Cut!
While thinking about this, my Numen side was still in effect, so I remorselessly and mercilessly killed off all of the humans in this settlement. In the end, I killed well over 200 humans. What kind of trouble did I get myself into?…
Bang!
Marinkia: “…”
Bang!
Standing on the ledge of a building, was another special zombie banging on the metal water drain. His eyes glowed a dark blue color, clearly different from the other one that I just killed. But not on the level of Axel.
Marinkia: “Do you need something?” I ask with a slightly loud tone so that he could hear me.
The zombie pointed toward a large antique power generator. Was this what powered the UV lights that protected this settlement? And does he want me to turn them off? Eh, worse comes to shove, and I will just die.
With a shrug, I walked over to the power generator, and then I turned it off. The night was once again dark, but I could see due to my newly discovered Numen night vision.
Once the UV lights were dealt with, the special zombie jumped down in front of me. Being closer to zombies than humans, I could tell that he meant no harm.
With a loud roar from his mouth, more of those special tall zombies showed up. They picked up the bodies of the weird primitive humans that I just killed, and they then carried them off. Oh, so he wanted the food, huh?
The zombie left for a few seconds, but quickly came back. The zombie handed me a flashlight. Pointing it away from the special zombie, I learned that it was a very bright UV one.
Flashing me yet another similar flashlight, he pointed at my backpack. Ah, so the one flashlight was the reward for those bodies? I guess that he senses those crystals within my backpack?…
Marinkia: “You want the crystals?” I ask.
Special Tall Zombie: “…” He nods in response.
Marinkia: “Okay.” I agree.
Taking my backpack off, I then open it up so that he can look inside of it. The zombie seemed to have a flash of excitement on his rotting face.
Special Tall Zombie: “Can I have them all?” He asked.
Marinkia: “You can speak?” I reply.
Special Tall Zombie: “Can, but hard to do so.” He struggled to reply.
Marinkia: “I have no use for them. I guess that you can eat them?” I reply.
Special Tall Zombie: “Make me stronger, regain my sanity. Many thanks, friend.” He said, happily eating crystal after crystal.
Aw… my crystal stash. I didn’t get a chance to taste, or figure out what they would do to me…
Special Tall Zombie: “My kind will not hunt you anymore. Many other special undead in this district. I have no control or say in what they do, and the normal undead are also uncontrollable by me as well.” He said after he finished the meal that I offered him, placing the extra UV flashlight back in my backpack and handing it back to me.
Hm… I wonder if they taste like rock candy?… Before leaving, that special tall zombie had turned back on the generator, and then left before he could be attacked by the UV lights.
Huh… I guess that I am sleeping here tonight? At least it will be a safe place to sleep. Especially with all of these UV lights around the place. With a sigh, I walked over to one of those people’s shitty beds, and went to sleep on it.
