Chapter 17: Why did I Think That This Would Be fun?
(Marinkia’s POV)
With entertainment mostly coming from your PC, it is no wonder that most places that normally would be entertaining didn’t really exist anymore at all these days.
In fact, for most districts, that is, besides the very, very wealthy ones, from what I’ve heard, there were only cities. And most of the buildings were for living in, and very few were actually for businesses.
The only upside was that each district had unique outdoor nature areas to explore. The main reason why I had gone to other districts was for these areas. But other than that, most of the buildings in each district was used for housing.
As I never made the income to ever visit the most wealthiest districts, I cannot speak for them at all. Despite this world being pretty fair, at least, more fair than it was 60 years ago, there was still a class divide.
There were no conflicts between said classes, as each class was separated by district. At the low end, you had people who lived solely off of their UBI, and then you had my class, which worked and lived in a more upscale district.
Due to my income, I was able to visit other upscale districts, but they were mostly the same. Anyway, this long ramble was just to try to ignore this horrible situation that I was now in…
Marinkia: “I feel so scared…” I say with a shiver.
Currently, I was in a very special place. You see, I got a good deal on my apartment. The reason was this district. It wasn’t fully completed. That is to say, it was actually made a long time ago, during the early years of Grant’s reign.
As it was old, there are a few parts that never got changed to be in line with modern times. And this place is one that was abandoned as well. That is… enough beating around the bush.
This was an abandoned theme park… I had never been to it, as there was no reason to go. And, the place was blocked off and you couldn’t enter it. But with the world ended, it’s not like anyone could stop me now.
The thing is… that an abandoned theme park was amazingly creepy. Not only was it creepy, with most of the things inside it still being made of impure metals that rusted, this was a zombie apocalypse!
Such a ran down place… it makes feel like the world had actually ended many, many years. Even worse was that it was still nighttime. I was hoping to find a place to sleep, but I was currently freaked out at the moment…

Much Hesitation Filled Exploration Later.
Thud!
The power switch that I threw made a loud sound. Soon, the theme park lit up in amazingly dazzling colors and lights. It being very old, it still used a power source that Grant didn’t have access to.
Well, this district still had power, but nothing tech wise that we use nowadays uses such power. Instead, the power is used for maintaining the systems of the district. Which, yes, there were robots in that forest.
I just ignored them, as I usually do. And as for this theme park, it was still kind of creepy even when lit up like this. At the very least, I wasn’t that scared anymore. I think that the main reason that I was scared, was due to it being dark out.
Marinkia: “Well, if I die… I will just die.” I say with a shrug.
That was me coming up with the decision to ride one of the rides here in this park. I chose the Ferris Wheel, since it looked to be the most intact ride in this place. Though it is old, it is new enough to be self serviced.
Even though it was from a bygone era where people actually left their houses or apartments, robots still roamed this place, and there weren’t any employees. I only know this, as I had looked up this theme park before a while back.
Clank!
The clanking sound as the Ferris Wheel starts to move, was very concerning… But, it still worked just fine in the end. I think that the noise was just because it has been well over 50 years since anyone has used this machine.
Soon, I was at the top of the ride. Looking up, I could finally see the moon. The clouds that were blocking it this entire night seemed to have vanished. Now, it was peaceful looking and feeling.
Marinkia: “Fucking Grant…” I scoff.
This hate for Grant borders on obsession, but can you really blame me? I feel like most of these problems that I am experiencing right now are his fault. On top of that, why do I have to see his face right now!?
That arrogant god complex idiot, Grant, had carved his image onto the moon. Space travel was well within our reach, but Grant knew that if he let that happen, it would only be a matter of time for when he stopped being in power.
Due to that, and his greed, humans were stuck on this original planet of ours. Man… someone should have really assassinated Grant a long time ago…
If we had a sensible leader, perhaps we could have peace with the Numens. Instead, it looks like he decided to go and have a secret war with them for God knows how long. While thinking this, I left to me left and was then in immense horror.
Marinkia: “…”
Hanging on the left side of my carriage was a clown zombie. How he made it up here without making a sound… well, that I don’t know. What I do know, is that he has glowing yellow eyes. Carefully averting my eyes from the special zombie, I looked down at the ground.
Swarming the entire theme park, was a horde of zombie clowns… Wait a fucking minute… clowns!? There shouldn’t have been any employees of this place. Where did the clowns come from!?
Clown Zombie: “Zaza, you’ll join our parade soon.” He laughed, jumping off from my carriage and landing on the ground with no injuries at all.
No. He didn’t speak clearly like that one female special zombie did. His speech was slurred, and it was hard to understand his words. That was just my best guess at what he said to me.
But the human to zombie language barrier wasn’t important right now. What was, is the fact that I was being swarmed by undead that shouldn’t exist. Were they just all clown cosplayers!? Shit… I will soon be at the bottom of the Ferris Wheel in just a few minutes…
