Chapter 22: Marinkia’s Inside Story.

(Marinkia’s POV)

In the end, my best guess was that it had something to do with me slowly and surely becoming a Numen.

Roar!

Oh, just ignore that sound. It isn’t anything special at all. Unlike me, who is Mai’s and Mercedes’s special and cute little princess. Shit… I might really be going insane after all…

Regardless, the monster was roaring in pain as I was climbing up its stomach via my swords. That is to say, that I was stabbing one inside the monster, and then taking the other one out and then stabbing it higher up.

Think of it like rock climbing, but kinda fucked up. Even I understand why it would be in so much pain. But who asked it to swallow me whole? It truly brought this outcome on itself.

The monster should have just ripped my head off, or something along those lines. It probably didn’t expect me to survive that thrashing it gave me, though. Any human would have easily died from just that alone. Not mentioning the razor-sharp teeth that cut me on the way down.

I might not be a Numen yet, but at least my body wasn’t as weak as the bodies of those damn humans. Aw… I am racist against my previous race again. Am I actually going to survive and become a Numen?…

Come to think of it, if it wasn’t a zombie, why was it rotting? No, wait… It wasn’t rotting. Instead, it was melting. After all, the rotted parts didn’t really smell bad at all. I guess that the DNA of the monster is now soup. That being, it is a failed experiment.

It was made by humans, which meant that no one ever expected it to have to fight something that was inside it. And also due to that, this monster wasn’t finished. Its DNA being a failed creation, it is slowly melting away.

Even if it was destined to melt in the end, I wasn’t going to wait for it to do so. Besides, that will probably take years at the latest. I don’t have time for that! Actually… I guess that I do?

I am kinda just doing my own thing at the moment. Hmm… such thoughts are messing with my mood. I’ll just push them into the back of my head and deal with them later. Just like I do with all of my problems.

Rooooooaaaaarrrr!

The monster yelled even louder, loud enough to where it hurt my ears to listen to. Fucker! Look, you’re going to die very, very soon, so why make such a damn fuss over this!?

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Some Time Later.

After climbing up its throat somewhat, I stopped climbing. If you consider that this thing is a manmade abomination, then it surely has a heart. And since it was a human that designed it, the heart should be right about here…

Stab!

Plunging my Katana into the monster’s throat, I cut a large cut open up. I couldn’t slash the inside of the monster, but if I do a stab first, then I can actually cut it. Once I heard another roar, I pulled back the flesh hole.

Revealed to me now was a huge, beating heart. The monster’s heart was huge, even bigger than me. I will so get drenched in a shit ton of blood if I destroy this heart…

Marinkia: “Oh, well. I guess that I do need a bath…” I say with a sigh.

How much of blood is actually water, though?… Taking out my broadsword, which I am pretty thankful that I found the sheath for it before leaving Axel’s tent, I plunged it into the side of the monster.

Now, I was positive that I wouldn’t get lost in the immense blood flow that I am about to release. Taking my Katana, I made a large slash on the heart. And, unlike the flesh walls of this monster, the heart was weak and easy to cut through.

Gush!

Soon, my world filled up with blood. Luckily, I was able to close my mouth and eyes in time. But my nose wasn’t so lucky in this regard… The smell of the blood was far more rotten than any pile of human bodies or zombies that I have came across. In fact, Axel’s little tent nest actually wasn’t so bad anymore in hindsight…

Thrash!

Crash!

The monster’s heart was pierced, sending it into a rage. Crashing and thrashing about, it wasn’t pleasant. Now, I was glad that I thought about getting a hold with my sword. It worked for the blood, and now it worked to prevent me from dying via a head injury.

An Hour Later.

No longer did the monster move or struggle. I think that it was finally dead. Not wanting to traverse those teeth once more to get out of this body, I just stabbed and then cut a hole through the monster.

Marinkia: “God…I stink to high hell…” I say with an annoyed tone.

Looking at the corpse of the monster that I just killed, I was actually glad that it ate me. If it didn’t, I would probably still be fighting it in vain. Only time, or destroying the heart, would have killed such an abomination…

Marinkia: “Another room?” I say with a curious tone.

I did notice a door around the room, but I was distracted by that monster. So I had forgotten about it. But the monster had destroyed the wall and the door. And inside the room… it was bright and lit up?

What the heck? The rest of this lab, or whatever it is, was silent as the night. With no tech working at all. How did any of it work? Didn’t Grant block all modern tech like this?…

Either way, I was now bored and very much covered in blood. Thankfully, my backpack was completely waterproof. Actually, it was everything proof. My supplies should still be just fine. I think?…

Walking into the room, I saw a weird tube like machine. The PC, which seemed to be a slightly older model that required a base, was working. But I didn’t see anything that I could use on it. After all, it had a password.

And I was NOT going to go looking around this dead and creepy place for a damned password… With great and stupid curiosity, I walked inside the tube thing.

Soon, the world lit up around me, a thick glass plane blocking me inside the tube. The lights were so blinding that I could barely keep my eyes open at all. Before the world went black, I think that I saw Mai and Mercedes rushing to try and save me…
