Qiu Wen was so worried about Xue Ting and Matthew's long conversation that he was unsettled to sleep after comforting Joy and listening to her venting about the unfair treatment of Matthew towards their best friend. Qiu Wen was amused to be able to encounter such an experience while he patiently waited for his little princess to fall asleep.
Thereafter, he went to check on Xue Ting and Matthew who had felt asleep on the couch by the verandah. He carried Matthew to the bed, he awakened Xue Ting who was drowsy.
"Hey..." Xue Ting greeted him as she tried to stand but was wobbly.
"Hey...come let me carry you to bed..."Qiu Wen walked over to lift her off the ground and kissed her forehead lovingly before she could respond and fall back to sleep again.
"Is Qiu Qiu alright?" Xue Ting asked as Qiu Wen hummed in reply. "Matt seems fine?" He asked as she nodded and eased deep into his hug to cuddle with him.
"Well done in parenting…" She mumbled before drifting drowsily into a deep sleep as Qiu Wen smiled and kissed her forehead again.
The next day she found herself in bed next to Qiu Wen who was soundly asleep as she remembered her upset baby boy last night. She gave a kiss on Qiu Wen's cheek before she dressed up and prepared breakfast.
Only then did she notice her baby boy was not coming down and Joy was ignoring her request to check on her twin as she was still upset with him.
"Qiu Qiu, wake him up. He is going to be late. Let your brother accompany you to school else how are you going to deal with the bullies?" Xue Ting nagged but in protest, Joy left grabbing her half-eaten breakfast, leaving Xue Ting to sigh at the siblings' feud.
Before Xue Ting could enter Matthew's room to check on him, Qiu Wen came out of their room.
"Ting Ting, what's wrong? You looked upset..." He walked up to her and kissed her forehead.
"Qiu Qiu left without Xin Xin and he isn't awake yet... It's unusual for him to be this late unless he isn't well. I'm gonna check on him..." The couple entered his room together only to find Matthew all curled up in bed.
Xue Ting tried to pull the covers away and saw his puffy haggard face before he hid himself back in the blanket. She turned to look at Qiu Wen who looked helpless. She knew Matthew was awake but was not looking too good to attend school. She did not want to bug him to attend school either.
"Boy, mummy made breakfast... Are you hungry yet?" Xue Ting asked gently while she rubbed his stomach slowly. She smiled reminiscing the times she loved to play tickling with the twins when they were still babies.
The warm sensation she felt from his body was beginning to feel abnormal. She also noticed something was off about him as he kept tightening his grip on the blanket.
"Boy, are you alright?" Qiu Wen stepped closer to them after noticing Xue Ting seemed to be alarmed. She tried to pry his right arm away from his eyes.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"He seems to have a fever..." Xue Ting mumbled while checking on Matthew's whole body.

"Boy… Boy, can you open your eyes to see mummy awhile, please?" She waited for his response but he did not move much due to muscle pain which was common for him.
Qiu Wen gently covered him with a sweater instead after peeling the blanket off. Only then did Matthew move his arm but he yelped out in pain by accident. Xue Ting knew Matthew feeling comfortable after putting on the sweater was his weak resistance to cold in daylight like Qiu Wen. She instantly distracted herself with Matthew's pain to not think too much about it.
"Matt, what's wrong?" Qiu Wen jumped in and checked on him again. Qiu Wen could feel Matthew's stomach bloated and his temperature was higher.
"My tummy pain... I had to purge a few times..." He began to speak slowly after feeling comfortable in his sweater.
"What did you have last night?" Xue Ting asked trying to figure out what he ate went wrong.
"I was hungry when you went to sleep. So I ate the bread on the table….Ahhh ouch..." He sat up as he held his aching stomach.
"Oh no! It's expired! Oh dear..."Xue Ting hugged him as Qiu Wen went to take some medicine for him.
"Here have some diarrhoea medicine first. I will drive you to the doctor after this... " Qiu Wen offered
"But you have an appointment later on the new project... I will drive him instead... I'm off today. " Xue Ting reminded as Qiu Wen shook his head.
"It's alright. I can postponeit. Getting him well is more important... " He insisted as she nodded as she focused her attention back at her son.
"And here I thought you're still upset..." Xue Ting nagged at Matthew.
"I still am..." He pouted
"You still can't decide?" She asked half teasing Matthew.
"It's not about whether I can decide or not. It's about whether she will accept or not..." He clarified.
"Even if she doesn't, will you give up?" Qiu Wen asked. Matthew shook his head.
"And your sister's protest?" Xue Ting questioned as Matthew shook his head. "I will resolve that together," Matthew said weakly.
"That's my boy..." He patted Matthew's head proudly.
"Rest for the day... If you're too weak you can skip tomorrow too..." Xue Ting suggested.
"No just today is enough..." Matthew insisted.
"Why?" Xue Ting asked half teasing.
"Cause I wanna confess to her..." Matthew's admission made Qiu Wen and Xue Ting could help but smile and chuckle.
"That can wait alright! You're sick! Your health is more important! I don't care, if you're not well tomorrow you're not leaving this house! Besides, letting the girl know you're sick and getting her more anxious isn't a bad idea you know..." Xue Ting was half scolding her son while teasing him before she gave him a wink and walked off leaving the men stunned at her reaction.
"Is that your wife?" Matthew was trying to indicate that his mother was not herself today.
"I think she was only being your mother. She is right about giving some anxiety to someone you love once a while would improve your relationship." Qiu Wen joined in the tease as Matthew grinned.
"Get up and we shall visit the doctor first." Qiu Wen urged before leaving his room.
After getting his medical leave for the day, Matthew rested in bed the whole day but his mind was thinking of his apology and confession to Diane after this. He was also wavering if he would be able to last long with Diane if he were to proceed with his decision as knowing Joy, she would be Diane's best friend for life.
Joy came home with a long face as she sighed and sat on the couch while Xue Ting came out from the kitchen knowing her daughter was grumpy. She quickly scooped a bowl of soup and rice for Joy to dine in the living room.
"Home? Why didn't you tell mummy?" Joy frowned at her second question, confused.
Xue Ting began to scoop a little rice and dipped into the soup before feeding Joy. "There, good girl…" Xue Ting tried coaxing her.
"What did I not tell you?" Joy finally said after swallowing but Xue Ting sensed a hint of accusation in her voice so she did not want to ask Joy about the feud just yet.
"Nothing serious. Just that you're home. Then, mummy can prepare your lunch…" Xue Ting said while feeding her another spoonful of rice as she pouted. Xue Ting knew Joy was having a hard time trying to talk to her about the argument with Matthew.
"I don't want the both of you arguing for so long. Let him have some time to think it through. You should also think it through yourself. Are you sure you really want your best friend to date your brother?" Xue Ting questioned as Joy gave it a thought before opening her mouth for another spoon of carrots.
"You know in love nobody can guarantee anything. So, you should embrace yourself that they might not end up together in the end. You know your brother is reliable and Diane too but no one can guarantee for sure of the future. Besides, who can guarantee you end up with Keith too right?" Xue Ting decided to tease her as she was taken aback for a moment and choked on her rice. Xue Ting giggled watching Joy run into the kitchen to grab a drink.
"What does it have to do with me and Keith now?" Joy asked as though being accused again as she walked back with a soft drink in hand.
"Nothing of course. Just referencing. Drink less or Keith might not like you once you gain weight from all the junk." Xue Ting chuckled as Joy snarled at her.
"Mummy! You're so bad!" Joy scolded as Xue Ting continued to feed her lunch.
"Anyway, don't disturb your brother resting. He had gone to the doctor for his diarrhea and fever. Tomorrow you will head to school alone again alright? Share your notes and don't worry about their relationship. Things will work out." Xue Ting said before handing the tray of lunch to Joy to feed herself after Xue Ting noticed Joy was beginning to be concerned about Matthew being sick.
As Xue Ting went to prepare a small light lunch for Matthew, Joy quickly texted Diane to inform her. Xue Ting knew Joy told Diane everything as the moment she sat by Matthew's bedside, his mobile phone had an incoming text from Diane checking on him. She smiled envying these young lovebirds of hers.
